Agreed.

Cust terrible tonight.

Need to bring Miski in next week and start with French at 1 and Field at 6.

Thought King was great again tonight.

I feel frustrated by Wardle he seems lazy. Lacks push around the ball.

Got sick of seeing Faz break and no support from his left edge.

Really need to sort out that half back partnership.

Cust has been poor all season.

Substitutions not sunshine.

Peet put Singleton on at a crucial time when the game needed closing out as he knows he can do a job (one you admit you don’t understand).

We cannot sign a team full of superstars due to the cap and finances…we need grafters like Singleton.

Proven talent like?

“Islanders”? Atoni?

I don’t think Singo will be at Wigan next season.

Re: Salford (H) : Sat Mar 25, 2023 6:25 am
2 late shows have stopped us being 2-4 with what looked on paper a pretty easy opening 6 fixtures, I will say that I thought Salford played well yesterday especially in the first half and I think they’ll have a good season.
I don’t quite get the forward bashing on here this season, we seem to be making solid yards and to me it’s our backs that aren’t clicking, the amount of times last night and in particular the Catalans game where we had sets of 6 on their try line and offered no threat, it reminded me of the Lam days a little. What was noticeable last night was Salfords forwards offloading it a lot more but I put that down to instructions rather than the players.
It’s getting a little worrying how poor our attack is looking but we’ve shown character to win these last 2 games and the last 15 last night we really upped the ante and attack and defence. Credit to Peet too for making some gutsy decisions in switching everything around and taking off a high earning Ozzie half back but it’s not a great sign that he needed to do that. Massive improvement needed going forward and it’s a little worrying, especially as we are picking from pretty much a full strength squad, on these performances I think the Leigh game will be tough but hopefully we can take the last 15 minutes into that game and play with that extra intensity and get some cohesion in the backs.

I know I said last week that I would keep Field away from 6 (still don't think he's a 6) there's no denying that we look a far better side with him and French on the ball. Thought moving Powell to 13 helped also.

Peet said after the game that he likes Jai at FB but likes Bevan on the ball, so I'm not sure we'll instantly move to it as of Thursday from the get go, but he has to be seriously considering it.

I think we will start with Cust, but see the shift come earlier and earlier.

Think it happened at about 60 minutes last night.

I think we may start to see it happen in first half soon.

I came away last night feeling that the better team (for most of the game, at least) had lost.

However, having seen the TV highlights this morning, I now think Salford were lucky to have the points they did. Sio's second try was about 2 yards forward and that so-called foul by Smithies was never a penalty in the memory of man. Even the Sky Sports team called it.

Sky called it after a second replay I think. They were saying there was late contact originally.

If Atkin gets up then I don't think that's given as a penalty.

I've been thinking over the possibilities of Powell at 13 and it's whether you decide to start him there and keep him there with O'Neill and Cust playing at 9 or whether he drifts there later on in the game. I wouldnt want Cust being used at 9 to stifle O'Neills progress.

If we start Powell at 13, does that improve our SR problems with Faz and Smithies starting and Isa and KPP as options from the bench? I'd probably say it does.

Whatever we go with, Peet alluded to it pre match last night that it's a long season and all about peaking at the right time and having multiple options can only be a good thing rather than a rigid 17 that will fall apart with a single injury/suspension.

We did well to win that, Salford came to play and probably deserved to win.

One thing that I don't think has been discussed yet is how the 6 again rule is killing us. The last few games, sides have come with a game plan v Wigan to just lie on at the ruck excessively and slow us right down, as they know we massively struggle when this is the case. The problem for us is that they're not being marched downfield for these infringements but just have a few more tackles in the set to complete. It's a farce of a rule, and we were happy to do it in the last few minutes when leading to close the game out. Why don't we want end to end games?!

When Hampshire is fit id like to see him on the bench, to slot in on the wing when we make the call to go with the switcheroo (2!).

I want him at 6.
