But you're assuming that Wigan could afford to pay Tomkins x2, O'Loughlin, Hock, Hansen, Charnley, Mellor... etc, another £20,000-£100,000 each. The money simply isn't there. We struggled to get team sponsors for the past few seasons and we're operating at a small profit.

I was gonna make that as my next point The money gained/earned from selling players then cannot be spent due to the restrictions in place and theres a chance this money could go out of the game.

The RFL wont as they want to do what happens in the NRL and have sides who develop talent to have to let a few players go to those sides to improve them. Which is a joke as the top players leave for union or NRL. This is really shown well on the Footy show re the Storm scandal when Phil Gould made David Gallop look a complete idiot. If you want to listen to it go on that well known site YOU know which one i mean and you will be able to watch it.

If Joel goes and who is next Lomax, Gaskell, Sam, Harrison etc. It weakens SL to have 3-4 players leave.

What do we think of the central contract system what they have in place in Cricket? Do we think that could work to keep England stars like Tomkins x2, Gaskell, Lomax etc etc?

We struggled to get sponsor for the team once DW left and everyone excpected him to be here for a long time so no one was activley looking for a sponsor. Which then took time to get Mecca Bingo in. I am not advocating a free for all but if a club can afford to pay more then let them pay more. Defentitley should have Club England the old Club GB where a player is paid for more for international duty. After all has the RFL made over a million profit each year for the last 3-4 years.

Clint Newton was spot on 2 weeks ago.

I agree with everything you say in principle, I just don't see where the extra money could come from for these players.

If the RFL makes a million profit every year thats a start. Have a central contract system and pay for it with the money the RFL is making. £50k per player on average. Have reduced % on the cap per season a player which has come from the academy who you keep. Basically in 10 years nothing on the cap. More players we keep the more we challenge the OZ team the more revenue the RFL will make.

So if a player is on 50K and you reduce it 10% per year on a 2 year contract. in 2 years he will cost 30K on the contract but earn 50K. So when he comes to negotiate his next 2 year contract you pay him actually more than his worth if you can afford him knowing that 30% will come off the cap. The idea is that if the club can afford to pay more they can. Whilst the ones that cant can pay the player a bit less and use any additional savings from the % off the cap for other players.

So hyperthetically if this was done you would give the international player an extra 100k per year if the RFL and Club could afford it.

If by any chance you understand this please explain it to think i have confused myself.
