Dan Sarginson: "This is a fantastic opportunity for me to join the biggest name in the competition" 18/10/2013
Tony Clubb: "This is a new exciting chapter of my life signing for Wigan and I couldn't be happier" 18/10/2013
Romain Navarrete: “I’m very happy to have signed for Wigan Warriors. As soon I knew that Wigan were interested, they were the only team that I wanted to sign for. To me, Wigan is the biggest Club in Rugby League and it will be an honour to pull on the famous Cherry-and-White jersey next year. I look forward to working with Shaun Wane and the players at Wigan.”
I'd say so, yes. While having a young side is great in terms of fitness, and for long-term stability, I do feel we need an experienced controller, especially when Lockers is absent, and his input in a coaching role will be invaluable.

But on reflection... am I happy about two of SL's best players (themselves an endangered species) going to Rugby Effing Union??
No. Not all. We can ill afford this seepage of players. Going to the NRL is bad enough, going to REU is far, far worse.
Ryan Hall to union, if he goes is not the disaster it would have been a few years ago. Though it is always disappointing to see players move to union RL & Leeds have had his best years and he seems to be starting to pick up injuries now. As a national team we have real competition in the wingers now and he is no longer certain to be picked.
I'm assuming the other player is Charnley. I think if it had been announced last year some fans would have been celebrating. He's back to playing good rugby again and will be missed but we have a more than adequate replacement.

Whilst Charnley has been playing well the signing of Burgess for next season is a step up IMO.

Charnley of the 2013 vintage would be very close though. Burgess is a good rugby player as well as an excellent winger. Really pleased he coming home to us.
I noticed his hit ups were a lot stronger last night than they were for the Roosters, this is one thing he would've learned in the NRL that wingers are expected to be like an extra forward. I think he has been working hard in the gym for the past 4-6 weeks.
