The 1980s irregular hoops were eventual winners in the close-fought poll for best ever Wigan shirt (despite some sinister Wagner-esque voting patterns for the 2011 jersey...). The runners-up were the traditional hoops and the early 90s Ellgren shirt.

If you read this thread back the shirt has been condemned by pretty much everyone. I'm not claiming RLFans to be the voice of the majority but there's a good mixed demographic on this site and although maybe only 20/30 people have voiced their concern on here, I'd think that's a reasonable indication of Wigan's fanbase.

I'm pretty sure than 2/3 games in to the season we'll have forgotten all about the kit and we'll be back to lambasting Karl Pryce.

IMO there could be a sizeable portion of supporters who either like the shirt or are at best ambivalent towards it (like me) and don't feel the need/CBA to post about it. I only raised myself to these mighty efforts because after 50 pages of mostly criticism I wanted to offer something different.

As for Pryce I don't see the need to wait so long to rip into him.

I've been in the shop three times since the new shirt was put on display near the entrance. I spent 5-10 minutes browsing each visit whilst listening to comments from supporters as they walked in and saw it. (Must be 40-50 people in total over the three visits), everyone bar one person said it was awful. The one person who didn't said she didn't mind it, it was 'different' but wouldn't buy it.

For those unsure what a "happy clapper" was, a good example is someone saying they don't like the new shirt but are going to buy it anyway.

The consensus on the other Wigan fans site is that its an out & out shocker.

My lad doesn't have an account on RLfans so hasn't added his viewpoint so just to add one more into the mix, he thinks it's total sh.yte.

I've heard the next shirt after this won 't have the Wigan badge on it. Or that we'll be called Wigan. Continuing with that break in tradition theme I think.
