Good point that. Pettybourne, Green, Hoffman, Richards, FPN, Leuluai, Gelling, Clubb, Sarginson are all from Platt Bridge so they are ok!
If anybody genuinely believes that the players accent is a factor in whether or not we sign them then they are wrong.

If anybody genuinely believes that the players accent is a factor in whether or not we sign them then they are wrong.

Then where are our quality signings over the last three years? and please don't use the age old excuse that there isn't much quality about or the salary cap is the issue. Warrington,Leeds,Hull,St Helens, Salford & Cas have all done it so why can't we? I pay my money to watch the worlds best players or at least to be able to have a sprinkling of the worlds best in my team. If i want to watch a team full of Wiganers or an old boys reunion then i will go to watch, St Pats, Rosebridge or St Judes.

Who have Salford, Leeds, Cas or Saints etc signed who are the worlds best players? Nobody that’s who!! The worlds best players will always play in the NRL because that’s where the money is!
Saints got Barba because of his drugs issues and there are no others of his standard at any of the other clubs you mentioned.

What i'm getting at is that they have all signed quality overseas players over the last three years or so whereby we tend to opt for fringe or reserve players, or as Wane puts it work in progress players. Its as if the club has lost its way somewhat with recruitment and now opt for the make do and mend approach.

I’m not so sure to be honest mate. When we brought both Tomkins, Leuluai and Burgess back, there weren’t so many complaints from our fans. They may not have worked out as we hoped but they appeared good signings at the time.
Richards was replaced by Manfredi and boy did that turn out well! It’s such a shame he got the injury.
We brought in Bateman who was by far the best young back rower in the country and that worked out well.
The issue with our recruitment goes back years when we were hammered by the Roosters. Wane, Rad and IL all said our recruitment needed an overhaul as we were not big enough, yet FPN aside, we haven’t really brought in any big lads.
The youngsters that have come through are not worse players than most of the imports of other clubs. We’re not far away in my view and one or two additional bigger players could see us on top again.

Ben Barba has had as many bad seasons as he has had good ones. He was truly awful at Brisbane. And the only reason he’s over here is because he’s a drugs cheat and was banned in Aus.
