I'm not defending Clubb and if he he did say that then he should suffer the consequences be it a long ban or even Wigan sacking him. However watching it again the "incident" appears to happen in the 14th minute, but Savelio doesn't report it for another 20 minutes (34th minute).
There were many opportunities for him to report it to the referee, just watch Sam Powells reaction!
It could be one of a few things, he may have been contemplating whether to report it or not and took his time to make the decision? He could have also been racking it in his brain exactly what Clubb said and making sure he heard it correctly?
For me it probably makes it worse for Clubb, I doubt Savelio would say it if not true but you would expect a false allegation to be made in the heat of the moment not 20 minutes later.
Be interesting to see what Clubb says, I will think more of him if he comes out, admits it and apologises and takes the rap. I think you have to take into account the circumstances, they were rearing up face to face in the midst of battle, Is it worse than punching him? The law certainly doesn’t class it as.
I’m not at all trying to defend him and say it shouldn’t be punished like some but I don’t think he’s quite the KKK member some people on social media are making out. I also think a lot of Wigan fans are using it as a convenient excuse to ask for him to be sacked as he offers nothing on the pitch (I’m not sure how he makes the team personally?) but I doubt that would be the case if it was one of our better performers imo.
