Im not saying he should be prevented from working again, I am asking why should a rugby player be allowed more freedom to behave inappropriately than say a binman, dinner lady, shop worker etc does talent escuse any misbehaviour?

I’m not sure they are though? A binman who gets sacked from one local authority would be able to apply for a job in another local authority. I’d say the only professions where you wouldn’t be able to apply the same skills would be if u were sacked from the police, fire service, military etc.(I’m sure there’ll be many others).

Hardaker has a particular set of skills which employers crave. Once his punishment is served, it’s perfectly reasonable to expect he will be employed to utilise those skills. As others have said, we’re not the only club who would be interested in employing him.

We seem to be equating sacked with struck off. Rugby league is not the same as being a doctor or teaching. In fact the law is very clear that unless you have it written into your code of conduct/operational rules simply blackballing someone is an offence. Hardacker can be penalised only in as far as the codes of the game allow and if a club want to hire him when he has served his ban it is up to them. Anything else would be restriction of trade. I just hope that we do not want to hire him.

Bigred nobody is saying that he can't or shouldn't work again I along with others are just suggesting he should ply his trade somewhere else. Employers have a choice in whom they employ. For the life of me other than good old money (and for me that just isn't enough) there is no reason on earth why a club would want to sign someone like ZH. I don't know about you but I wouldn't employ someone who good at their job but has loads of personal issues that he brings to work on a regular basis.

History is littered with selfish guys like ZH who don't care about anyone but themselves either at work or leisure who will not or cannot change his attitude so why the hell waste your energy, time and money on him when he couldn't give a shiny shoite about anyone else?
I genuinely and sincerely hope that he can change but apart from a press release written for him presumably by his brief he has said jack shoite on how he intends to change. Moving 60 miles west isn't a recipe for change its just easy way to keep the money coming in. If he wants to get away from his "mates" why doesn't he go over to Australia to ply his trade he'd be 12,00 miles away so no chance of an hour's drive to meet up for a lad's night on the town in Yarkshire?

For me as a club we are coming over a little grubby in all this and that is what really disappoints me. If ZH can turn things around then hats off to the lad but why do we as club think we can do something that other clubs and coaches have failed to do just baffles me. It just reeks of double standards I'm afraid and that is what I find so galling in this. I know that I am probably in the minority here with my views but hey ho.

If we sign him I just hope that he can demonstrate than he can and will change. Hey maybe SW putting an arm around will help do the trick but ZH needs to grow up and accept his responsibilities before he starts off down the road to changing his lifestyle forever. Hopefully with help from friends like Ritchie S he may be able to make major changes in his lifestyle however only time will tell.

Itchy that’s a cracking post and I agree with much of the sentiment. However, I’ve come to trust in SW, Rad and IL in that they want only the best for our great club and if they genuinely believe in ZH then that’s good enough for me.
I also think that if any of our off field leaders felt that ZH would let us down then they wouldn’t touch him.
As SW said, MM had issues but turned it around to become a great pro, albeit he was younger. Bateman also had issues and was punished by the club and we’ve heard nothing but good about him since!
I see nothing grubby in the club trying to bring an outstanding talent to the club if they ensure we are correctly protected contractually and I’m sure IL will make sure we are.
Nobody on here seems to dispute the talent of ZH and he will undoubtedly improve our squad. We can only wait and see if he goes on to let us down.

Ive no doubt ZH will have been in touch with SW in the lead up to his sacking. Bridges burnt at Cas, Bridges burnt at Leeds.

Who else will pay the wages, Salford?, Widnes?, they are probably on the backburner - their time will come...

Another Rangi?

We had the good sense to steer well clear of that one.

Alright I'll bite. On the other board a poster is saying that he overheard someone who thinks that he heard that someone had mentioned in passing that Sarginson was leaving. I will leave it at that as this is a rumours thread.

I saw that too and decided not to post it or anything else i've seen on there in this thread as there are one or two fans on here who think they are clever

Seems he may be leaving prematurely with HKR looking like the viable destination...not entirely sure why or what the reason is, certainly some kind of issue.

I was quite shocked Wane said that. As you say it was MM was younger and that is entirely the point. Even if Wigan had a role in shaping MM's life he was a young kid when that happened so far more open to influence than a 26 year old adult. He's comparing a young kid who by finding a career in sport kept on the straight and narrow (and that is assuming he was definitely going to go off the rails anyway) which is a positive thing, to a player at the peak of his career in the sport going off the rails. The situations are nothing like the same and I bet MM is really chuffed to be being spoken of in the same bracket as Hardaker. Just another example of Wane not engaging his brain before opening his mouth.

Are you referring to Hardaker's drug ban issue?
