Maybe Catalans are willing to match or even beat his current wage and offer it over a longer term? Plus the lure of living in the south of France might be attractive to him and we might not think he’s worth his wage which he probably isn’t even though he’s played well this season.

To be honest the whole not being ill thing has been blown out of the water as he’s in the squad for Monday but a group of lads at the game where adamant he’s gone. Like you said it doesn’t make sense but I’m just passing on what a few probably ill informed people told me.

I personally wouldn’t want him to move into the halves. IMO we look much more dangerous when Sam is at fullback, rather than Escare.

Since he’s been kept at fullback Tomkins has played better.

He might know a bit of something after all this Wane bloke.

Yesterday showed exactly why Tomkins should stay at FB. We missed him more than I thought we would in all honesty. His influence over our attack is huge, either his little tip on passes or his general link up play and cut out pass decisions.

Tomkins is staying at full back because he “wants”to stay at full back, nothing to do with Wane more to do with Tomkins. the tail wagging the dog if you like.

Escare is also better in the halves IMO. Gives us much needed pace. I can’t beleive how slow Powell is at that position.

So Tomkins has added coaching to his list of jobs that already include playing and refereeing!

No wonder people are saying Catalans want him.
