Why would you let one of the best players in SL go? Not a hope in hell that he is going to France. He is the heartbeat of the Wigan team.

It wouldn't surprise me tbh because I’m sure we’ll be trying to negotiate his deal downwards by a distance. Is he still a very good player? Yes. Is he still worth marquee money and if rumour is to be believed the highest salary in superleague? Probably not.

I think there will be some agent talk in this and that goes for lads like Gildart and Bateman but hopefully we’ll work everything out.

Gildart needs to earn a new deal, his form at the moment is average at best.

You’d imagine the distraction of any contract talks may be adding to his lack of form. I don’t know if Wane was trying to snap him out of this poor run or not when he said he thought he was outstanding yesterday but I couldn’t agree. The amount of poor decisions with the ball were again plentiful.

On the plus side he’s defended much better these past couple of weeks.

I think he's certainly been better these last couple of games, but his decision-making still looks a bit shot.

I can’t see Sam wanting or being allowed to move to Catalans at this stage of his career or our season. It wouldn’t be beyond the realms of possibility if Hardaker had signed and he had no ban mind but in the current position it’s completely unfathomable and sheer lunacy.

Further to that, I’ve just seen on Wigan Today that the Catalans interest is real and they are looking at 2019 and beyond after his contract is up at seasons end.

Still can’t see it happening though.

Sam has sort of already ruined his career once by choosing to go to the wrong team, I'm sure he wouldn't do it again.
