When Williams leaves if we don't replace with quality then it would be financial suicide by the club.

I'd say attendances are dropping 15-20% year on year. This will continue next season unless the club spend on some quality names.

Two new half backs and two new front rowers. A new hooker would be good but can see Lam sticking with Powell (especially if Leuluai extends another 12 months).

Current thoughts - Mago out or get running up them plantations, get fit or get rid.
Maybe a back up halfback, someone with a bit of experience on a short term deal.
Big tall strong running second rower, like a McMeekin or Sironen type back rower.

But when you say that you get people moaning saying it’s not the 1980s, we can’t go out and sign Ponga, Cam Smith and Tuavasa Sheck.

It’s true though, the quality has gone down year on year and it’s depressing.

If the club want more bums on seats they need to speculate to accumulate.

We should be in a strong position every season due to the fact we arguably have the best and most successful youth system in the sport.

Of course the majority of the squad should be made up of players brought through our system. This should be complemented with a small number of quality signings from the rest of the UK and abroad.

Those who say this are absolutely spot on. There’s no way on earth we’d attract a top NRL player in their prime. No chance whatsoever ever. The best we could hope for is somebody at the back end of their career after a last contract to bolster their pension pot.
That doesn’t mean we can’t improve the squad. Matt Parcell has gone to Hull KR today and I think he’d improve us massively in a position we need to improve but without breaking the bank. Kruis Leeming is another.

I don’t think anybody realistically expects us to go and sign origin players anymore but we need a genuine rebuild and I think we all expect 3 or 4 good players in addition to the confirmed additions of Bibby and Clark if we’re to compete at the right end of the table.

Names like Hastings, Packer, McMeekan, Leeming etc shouldn’t be beyond a club of our stature (those are just I’ve seen loosely thrown around rather then players I’m saying we’re in for).

Agreed. Ponga etc is totally unrealistic, but there are levels to who's obtainable and still could very much improve the squad and put bums on seats; i.e Lachlan Coote. Not in the same league as a Ponga or Tommy Turbo, but still a great signing.

I agree with you over Leeming,he does look class but Parcell? to me hes a flat average trundler who had a handful of games when he caught the eye when he first arrived.

If Huddersfield ended up going down at the end of the season, Leeming would be a priority signing IMO.

Kenny Edwards to Huddersfield. Good signing that if true.

If only that were true today. The system does not reward clubs for nurturing talent, we are actively penalised for giving youngsters a few games. If a lad is not in contention for a starting place by the end of their first senior year the demands of the salary cap mean that they are almost certain to be moved on.
