I am and you may well be right. I’ve just not seen signs that he’s the man for us. He’s had some tough circumstances to deal with and there’s no doubt about that but in a full season and 8 games I’m yet to watch us play and have a real understanding of what we’re trying to do. He spoke a huge game about attacking rugby when he was introduced but it’s hardly all action stuff. We’re error riddled and our discipline is unbelievably poor. I’m not saying he’s under pressure currently and why would he be? We’re top of the league but how, I’m not so sure. I just hope Lenagan hasn’t rushed in to anything for next year and we will keep our options open. There is time for Lam to nail the job yet and I’d love for him to do that but I don’t think the signs look great.
Spot on.
Some fans will find that incredulous, but like you said we are well into Lam's tenure as Head Coach and this is when we need to be seeing the real improvements, or formations of a game plan. We aren't sadly.
You only need to look at Madge or Holbrook to see the difference a top coach can make to a side. Holbrook, like Lam, recruited a very average squad but not only did he improve them he also got his big signings to perform too. Heck even Ian Watson has done more with less imo.
Like you I really hope IL is doing some proper research into coaching options for next year.
