My concern with Budgie going is, come 3 games in and Manfredi suffers another nightmare, we have one specialist winger. It's a big gamble to put so much faith in a guy that has suffered badly for 3 seasons.

It is a risk but if we are going to save money that is the first place we should be doing it.

3 top line wingers with first team expectations doesn’t work.

We have others that can play wing and have done at a high level.

French, Bibby and even Hardaker have all played on the wing and I’d also think Hanley and Halsall could do a job there.

The ideal scenario would be 2 front line specialist wingers and a top class junior to provide competition to those starting spots.

Given we not too long ago had 4 front line wingers competing for 2 wing spots I don’t think the club will have prioritised that position in the junior set up.

As I’ve said on another thread IF we are cutting costs, versatility next year will be a key to our success.

I get that, but we are putting our eggs in a very unstable basket.
