He would’ve been about 8th choice here rightly or wrongly, so we won’t feel his absence. He’s a frustrating player but on his day he can be a good player but they don’t come around often enough (usually against Catalans and one or two others per season).

If he’s motivated he’ll do pretty well. I’m sure his exit from Wigan will help in that regard.

Liam Bryne signed new 4 year deal, great news I’ve been really impressed with him and he often goes under the r radar due to smithies and Partington but he’s just as good on his day and will certainly end up better than Ollie in my opinion

I'm quite confident that he will become a first team regular this season. Last year Partington and Smithies got all the raps but I thought that Byrne seemed to get better and stronger as the season progressed and I said to my sons that of the 3 Byrne is the one to watch.

A good move by the club.

He did really well last year Byrne. The step up in intensity in the play offs was tough for him and a great lesson in where he needs to get to. I felt he took a step forward in that Leeds friendly and I think he’ll play Thursday. To secure a place on the 17 with all the competition for his place must be a huge boost.

He likes to knock the ball on and isn't the strongest in defence but he will definitely step up against Catalans

I just thought it was me,as you say he quietly got on with his job and almost game by game got better to the point he had in my opinion passed Partington as a player to watch.

Let’s hope his form continues this season

That is probably a result of cap space freed up by RN leaving. Hope he fulfills his potential.

Is this a bad sign for Clark? Can't think of many times we've signed someone with so much SL experience then them not gone straight into the starting 17, never mind not making the 21 man squad when we're without our 2nd best prop. Makes a bit of a mockery of Radlinski's claim that he is one of Super League's most destructive forwards/fierce middles to be honest. Why sign him if he's behind Partington, Byrne and Havard?

Green is better than Navarette, he would be in the Wigan 17 for me.
