I suppose that depends on those other rumours that we are trying to off load the likes of Escare. But that is the nature of a rumours thread.

We've just loaned out Navarette for the season, plus Sammutt was a very late departure as well.

Someone like Viliame Kikau from Penrith would be perfect.

We’d probably need to offload half the pack to afford him now, he’s a fabulous player. I remember before he made his breakthrough at Penrith, watching him in the 2017 World Cup for Fiji and being hugely impressed. There was him and the prop from Melbourne called Kamikamica who stood out for me. They’re both about 6ft 5 and 18 stone but athletic. I don’t know how it works with work permits and the like but then would’ve been the time to make a play. Since then Kikau has become a star and Kamikamica took longer to break through but he made over 20 appearances for Melbourne last year. He’s still be a chance I guess over time. A big, powerful front/back rower like that would be very useful.

If you consider we’re likely going to lose Flower, Navarette, Greenwood, Lockers and Clubb (ok I admit that’s a personal desire); that’s a lot of money shed from the cap that could go towards a player of his calibre. Though whether he’d want to leave behind the NRL is another matter.

Only Benny and Lockers are off contract at the end of 2020, the others have another year. However, Escare, Budgie, Hank, Gildart, Tommy and Jake Shorrocks are also out of contract.

I know but they’re likely to leave you’d have thought. From the list there you’d say Escare, Hank, Tommy and Shorrocks are at risk. Part of me wants to add Budgie to that list but I think he’ll get a contract extension offer and Gildart should just be offered a contract come what may.

Kikau is one of the rising stars of the NRL. There is no way on earth he would leave that comp at this stage.

Can only see us going for another Gabe Hamlin type, relatively unknown but looking for an opportunity to raise his profile over here.

Although it would be very unlikely to happen if we could g rid of Escare and Flower mid season we should try for Watts, would be very hard but would be worth trying:

Most idiotic post ever goes to Grimmy..... The way to restart should be an arm wrestle between a designated player from each side.

That’s why I said it would be very hard, we’d probably have to offer a transfer fee and that’s where it ends most likely. Our best bet is someone unknown from the NRL like Gabe Hamlin but there’s some good prospects in the super league that we should be looking at
