Shaun Wane linked with Newcastle Knights job next season, would be great to see and would certainly be my NRL team to watch next season

Really hope that comes off, he deserves a big break like that and it would be really fascinating to see how he’d go. On the downside we may have another team to rival Canberra for our best players.

I agree he deserves a shot at the NRL regardless of the style he won a decent set of trophies over the years in charge so let’s hope he gets at least a look at the job over there

Just heard from a usually reliable source that we are moving ‘a couple of wingers’ on. No further info. Anybody heard anything?

I can believe this. We're well overstocked in that position

Is Joe Brown still on the books? He might be one if he is.

It would make sense as we have 4 wingers of starting quality, Bibby who has predominantly been a winger and also French too who can cover if needed. The problem is who goes? Burgess has just signed a new contract, Manfredi has a long term contract I do believe and I doubt the club would offload him in his current condition and I’m not sure anyone would take him. What are Marshall and Davies contract situations? I always thought Marshall would leave sooner rather than later but he’s stepped up this year, maybe Davies is the one to leave
If Burgess hadn't signed a new contract I would think he might go as I expect him to be the highest earner and he’s taken a dip in form.

So in the past three years which winger has played most games?
French has come here as he didn't want to play wing at the Eels. No point in him leaving Aus if he's to play wing here which probably he won't.
I always thought Bibby's signing was an insurance policy for if Gildart decided to join Canberra.
We won't run with four wingers next year but it would be a shame if Marshall left as he's been our best wing this year.

Manfredi has two years on his deal after this one, Marshall has three years and Davies has four years. It’s only Burgess who has less with just that one year deal.

I’d be sad to see any of them go but to keep all four must be costing a fair chunk. If we’re to keep all four then I think ideally you’d want to try and convert one in to another position. The only real options of that are Burgess to centre (which has never looked likely when he’s played there) or Manfredi to maybe centre or an Aaron Murphy style switch in to the back row. It’s a move I’d certainly be interested in seeing us attempt.

Brown and Hamlett have already gone, I haven't heard of any of the 1st team ones leaving.
