Ex Warriors doing well : Thu Aug 23, 2018 7:39 pm
I was just thinking how well three ex Warriors look better players since they left the club.
Lewis Tierney is playing well for Catalans, looking sharp and aggressive and making good metres when scooting out from defence,
Ryan Hampshire has cemented his place in the halves at Wakefield, combining well with Jacob Miller and with a 90% plus conversion record. Weren’t we desperate for a goal kicker?
And last...but not least...Mickey McIlorum has been a revelation! I wasn’t impressed with him at Wigan because he was tired after 20 minutes and his play was slow and predictable. He can now play for the full 80 minutes, varies his attacking strategies and is the mainstay of the Catalans’ team.
What happened?

Would you take Tierney over Davies or Marshall... more so over Burgess or Manfreidi? Cant argue with Mac getting a pay day, I think it was an attempt to secure a final contract with us by him that didnt work out.... squad wise him leaving allowed us a chance to secure others.
Hampshire is the one for me I can't help thinking if we had got him and Williams along side each other we would have been set... well until one or both ended up in the NRL. Goal kicking would be a bonus!!

Hampshire is doing ok. He has found a level and position that he is comfortable with. He has not developed as we had hoped but at the same time we tried to make him into something that he was not happy with. I hope he goes on to do well. I do not see any of them as a huge step up from what we have already got and league position does not really lie.

Good on them I say. I’m glad they’re doing well though other than Micky I wouldn’t want any of them back at the club.

I thought Micky was outstanding today for Catalans and I do believe we’ve really missed his aggression and reliability this season. It was criminal IMHO that he was ever let go.

Can there be many people who would look at Powell and Mickey M and say you know what we really need to let MM go?

In a post match interview Micky Mac said that he no longer drinks. If true, then I would say that is the reason for his excellent form. When we let him go he wasn’t playing well but he has been excellent for Catalans recently.
