Bad news for Warrington, Wigan, and Leigh fans comes with news of the death of Laurie Gilfedder in Warrington General Hospital on Monday of this week. Laurie was a member of the Warrington Hall of Fame. He starred for Wigan in the famous 1965 CC Final v Huntley, kicking a goal from the halfway line in the first minute.

RIP indeed. That match is a favourite in my DVD collection.

Really sad news. I was right behind the posts as he kicked that goal towards us in the 1965 final.

R.I.P.

This might sound daft but was he the guy who used to bounce up and down on his toes as part of his kicking routine?

Yeah! That was him. Old style toe end kicker. R.I.P. Laurie.

I am not biased; I'm not bothered who beats St. Helens.
