It was Mr Lenegan who paraded Edwards and explained his Grand plan of Lam for a year and then Edwards was it not?

As an outsider looking in (Leyther) I find this whole situation incredible. Edwards says "he's open to all offers league or union". So despite the lure of his hometown RL club, will probably stay in Union.

If what Edwards says is true then you cant blame him for saying hes open to offers. He has to think about himself. It seems Edwards comments up until now have been to try and get a contract signed and the latest comments are to show the fans that this debacle is not down to him.

This statement by Edwards leaves the club in a sticky situation. The club normally announce in their own time once they are ready. They have now been made to show their hand. Rumours the club will make a statement tomorrow. Either he will be signed up fully with ‘what you all worried about, normal service resumed’ or his replacement will be announced (along with an explanation as to why the ‘deal’ fell through). Unless no replacement is announced and we are being asked to trust the club over the coming months to sort it?

Things go bad to worse for 2019 it ‘could’ seem, hardly a great preparation for Salford away this week when a win is badly needed.

It’s a shame because I felt there was a slight turn in mood towards the end of that Warrington game. The effort was good and there was a genuine appreciation between the players and the fans when they came over at the end of the game. I felt upbeat for the first time in a while and was really looking forward to next week but it just seems like there’s something round the corner to take the wind out of us and much of it keeps coming down to our own doing.

I think this is a separate issue to the performance against Warrington. We did improve and I too was upbeat. I still feel the same way and I still have faith in Adrian Lam to get us to the play offs.
I’m angry that club appear to have taken us for mugs about Edwards but he was implicit in that by doing the 30 minute interview on Sky where he deliberately gave us all the impression he’d signed. If it’s true and I don’t see how it won’t be, Edwards and the club share equal responsibility for it. The players are not at fault in this and I’ll back them to turn the season round, starting with a win on Sunday.

Oh c'mon, don't be drawn in by Edwards spouting off to the media.

He's clearly got a job at Wigan from 2020, but fancies he can get something better elsewhere.

How has he got a job at Wigan for 2020 with no contract? The problem here is IL paraded Edwards as Wigan coach on a three year deal. How the F can he have a three year deal with no contract?

If IL and Edwards just shook hands on such a deal, what sort of basis was that to be going to the press announcing him as coach?

The whole saga is a sick joke. The only reason Edwards is not our coach now is supposed to be because he honours his commitments. If he's got a better offer and he wants out then he is in the process of trashing his reputation particularly as he is making claims such as not having signed a contract and if these are false he's not got a leg to stand on (which I am sure they cannot be otherwise what sort of idiot would go to the press and make such claims?).

This is just ridiculous and embarassing. Is it any wonder why we’ve played like we have when we’ve all this uncertainty and rumour about the club? Players don’t know whether they’re coming or going, who’s really coaching them (SE or AL). Fans are turned off in their thousands. Voices of discontent about the place.

I’m not at the “IL OUT!!!” stage like some posters are, though I can understand why they are but he needs to come out with the full truth to the fans. He owes us that. I’d have more respect for him if he came out saying “We were going to sign it, we said it was signed to sell more season tickets but the contract still isn’t signed yet” and was honest than came out with b0110cks soundbites to appease the fans.

Edwards has done the right thing, the club simply have to comment now. Silence would be commercial suicide. I absolutely believe Shaun had the right intentions to come and coach the club, so if things don't work out the buck lies with IL.

You have to wonder though, with this episode now being played out in public - will the relationship have soured to the point it is already untenable, regardless of the contract situation?
