19 man squad for Warrington Sunday. C.Cup. : Fri May 10, 2019 10:59 am
Adrian Lam names 19-man squad to face Warrington Wolves in Round six of the Coral Challenge Cup
Clubb and Burgess return to 19, Escare and Partington miss out
Warrington Wolves vs Wigan Warriors, Sunday 12th May, Halliwell Jones Stadium, K.O. 2:15pm
Wigan Warriors Head Coach Adrian Lam has named his 19-man squad to face Warrington Wolves on Sunday in the Coral Challenge Cup (K.O. 2:15pm).
Lam’s men will make the short journey to the Halliwell Jones Stadium for the second time this season on Sunday, hoping for a better result than the 25-12 defeat back in March.
Injury news
Wigan welcome back two players this week in the shape of prop-forward Tony Clubb and winger Joe Burgess. Adrian Lam also highlighted earlier this week that Dan Sarginson stands a chance of making the 17 on Sunday after missing a number of weeks with an ankle injury.
Long-term absentees Jarrod Sammut (knee), Liam Farrell (pectoral), Dom Manfredi (knee) and Tom Davies (ankle) remain on the comeback trail.

None of this SOL on the bench this week. Hill and Cooper are up there with Saints pair as the best props in the league. Need to handle them.

Gone with Tommy at 7 for some big game experience, and defence.

Smithies for Tautai as a backrow option should an injury occur.

Sharrocks/Williams/Powell/Leaulai long kicking game is all as bad as each other. Note Sam Tomkins did all our kicking in the GF. Hopefully Sammut back soon.

Lockers

We need stability and consistency so this is no time to start messing with the spine. We also lose our intensity after our 1st bench players come on and by having Lockers in the bench it means we can maintain the intensity and direction during the back part of the 1st half.
Kicking will be huge because in Ratchford, Austin, Clarke and Patten, they’ll kick us to death.
I believe Hankinson has done enough to keep his place, especially defensively so if Sarginson comes back in, it would be on the wing in place of Marshall for me but that’s a tough call.

I wouldn't put sarge in place of Marshall I like him he's a great finisher and always does well against wire

I think Sarginson’s yardage out of our own half is invaluable to our forwards.

We need to be really strong defensively, especially early on which is why I’d keep the young lads out the way and rest Shorrocks all together.

O’Loughlin can cover 9 or 7 as well as anyone else we have if required, with Smithies going to 13.

Probably as strong a 13 as Wigan have managed to get out this season.
Lam throwing all the eggs at this game.
A good CC run and mid table would be very satisfactory after the early start and off pitch shanannighans this season.
The bench looks a touch weak...that could be costly with a full stakes match like this.

Enjoy the day though. As always, love playing Wigan.
