We need to sort out The signings, the Williams saga has gone on so long I couldn’t give a monkeys even if he stopped. But this prolonged drawn out event along with the coaching appointment shows no signs of ending and fans are getting cheesed off with it, but there’s no point hiding the fact Williams is going waiting to announce his replacement before announcing he’s going, giving good news to help bury the bad Maurice Lyndsey style because it’s gone on for too long. Whoever replaces Williams, if it’s isnt James Maloney or Jackson Hastings people aren’t going to be happy, but only because it’s gone on for too long the suspense has built up. Allegedly.

As I understand it, as part of the deal (including a circa 200,000 transfer fee), Canberra have requested there be no announcement until later in the season as to not unsettle the team. I’m not saying Wigan would have announced it by now if this wasn’t the case, but they’re not to blame on the lack of announcement.

Everyone knows he’s off anyway, announcement or not.

I am in the camp of IL has done more good than bad for Wigan. There is room for improvement yes but we are forgetting how much money this man has put in from his own pocket to cover financial losses the club has made over the years. You could argue that the losses are partially down to the club with things such as pathetic marketing, poor rugby to watch on the field, signings that don’t make fans excited, etc. we have had 4 grand final wins, 2 challenge cups and a world club Challenge in the last ten years. Look at the mess we were in when IL took over and if anyone would have told you we would win this over a 12 year period you would have laughed at them.

That’s the problem, we all talk about what Leneghan has done and not what he is going to do. It’s great to remember the past but it’s important not to get stuck in it.

Who’s stuck in it? I think what people are saying is that we have faith in Lenagan going forward because of the impressive track record he has.

In terms of being stuck in the past I think that can be said for a proportion of our fan base who want us to be the Wigan of the past - sign whoever we want, pay them whatever we want and win every game. The sport is not like that any more and it seems as though people resent Lenegan for being a sensible, but successful, business man who’s looking after the best interest of the club.

I seriously can’t comprehend anyone who slates him given everything he has done. (Ps, I’m not saying he his mistake free as of course he is not, but on balance he has done us good more often than not).

One of the problems with this board is that many are stuck in the past.................... The 1980's.. :CURTAIN:

I wouldn’t say stuck in the 80’s, a lot of fans just want better and it’s the same at every club in every sport that has tasted success.

Of course we want better but some fans still think that even under a salary cap we should have 17 internationals in our side and sign the likes of Cronk, Tedesco and the Burgess clan.

We have the marquee signing allowance that allows us to pay Cronk and Tedesco the salaries they’d require to come and play for us so it is possible if Lenagan is willing to pay a hell of a lot of money out of his own pocket for it to happen. (Not that I would if I were him TBH)
