Squad for Wire : Thu May 23, 2019 11:54 am
https://www.wiganwarriors.com/news/2019 ... warrington

Sammut back, Navarette out

Escare
Sarge
Hardaker
Gildart
Burgess
Williams
Sammut
Flower
Leuluai
Clubb
Greenwood
Isa
O'Loughlin

Shorrocks
Bullock
Tautai
Smithies/Hankinson

Put Escare in at fullback because I just don't fancy him on the wing, think Sarge will be more solid there.

Hopefully Greenwood will pull through as we miss him hugely when he doesn’t play as he’s one forward who can make ground.

I’d go a bit left field in the backline and go-

Escare
Sarginson Hardaker Gildart Burgess
Williams Sammut
Flower Leuluai Clubb
Isa Greenwood Lockers

Subs
Bullock Partington Smithies Shorrocks

SAINTS THE ORIGINAL AND PERENNIAL CHEATS

For sale full Saints kit (circa 1989). Shirts in pristine condition, but shorts badly soiled.

For 27 - 0 you get a trophy
For 75 - 0 you get sod all.

Wigan had eight in a row
Saints have five in a row

Keep it simple play Escare on the wing, and keep Hardaker at fullback instead of changing the whole backline around. He's played there at International level.

Wire killing him in the league game at their place on the wing is my reasoning. I don’t think we lose a lot from Sarginson putting him to the wing to do the donkey work and we looked really threatening with that set up (Escare 1 and Hardaker 3) away at Salford on Easter Monday.

Without more from the forwards it’ll all be irrelevant anyway.

Current thoughts - Mago out or get running up them plantations, get fit or get rid.
Maybe a back up halfback, someone with a bit of experience on a short term deal.
Big tall strong running second rower, like a McMeekin or Sironen type back rower.

Re: Squad for Wire : Thu May 23, 2019 12:41 pm
1 - Hardaker
2 - Escare
3 - Sarginson
4 - Gildart
5 - Burgess
6 - Williams
7 - Sammut
8 - Bullock
9 - Leuluai
10 - Flower
11 - Greenwood
12 - Isa
13 - Smithies

14 - O’Loughlin
15 - Shorrocks
16 - Clubb
17 - Tautai

I’d have rather have put the next best winger from the academy than Escare, square peg in a round hole if you ask me.

Just start O'loughlin. I hate this coming off the bench. Make him prove his worth for next year if he wants a contract. Smithies on the bench to replace him, lose Hankinson, hes a another Isa without the work rate, offers nothing.

He can't do 80 we know that so him coming off the bench which keeps our intensity high (and if anything improves is) is fine by me. Far too long we have seen our bench change a game in the wrong way by replacing our top guys with kids all at once. Leaving SOL on the bench balances that out.

Rumour control says Sammut isn't playing but he will be fit for our next game so looks like Shorrocks and Williams in the halves.
