Flower should be a complimentary prop - our third best one and either paired with a quality big lad, or brought on when the two quality big lads have set a platform and need a rest.

He's just too small to make a dent in attack - especially on his own.

Agree Bullock and Flower should be Props 3 & 4.

2 quality Props needed, Clarke signed up, so looking like we need 1 real top class Prop.

I know what you mean but you have listed a select number of players from both teams to back up your argument. Selectively left out any of Wigan’s big earners.

The only Wigan player who may get a sniff in Wires side is Gildart. However, here's my thoughts on all of them...

Williams - stopped playing once he went Marquee.
Zak - Doubt he's on as much as Rachford. If he is then we've overpaid.
Wingers - either injury prone or not in the same league as Charnley/Lineham.
Sarginson - wasn't that great before he went to Aus. Madness to re-sign him
Props - plodders with no stamina. Why can props for other clubs manage more than 20 mins, yet ours cant?
Powell - Not a patch on Clark. Pound for pound, even if Clark is on double, he's worth it. I wouldn't pay powell in buttons.
Lockers - Past it. Last two games have seen him make error after error. Needs to retire this season. Thanks for the memories.
Tommy - if he is getting paid the same as Austin, then he's stealing a living. If he's on half of what Austin is getting then he's still stealing a living.
Isa - Squad man at best
2nd rowers - not a patch on what Wire have.
Farrell - crocked. Needs a salary commensurate with his on-field time.

So there you have it. Only Gildart is worth a decent wedge of the SC and only Gildart could add something to the side currently 2nd in the table.

Yet look who won the Grand Final with Williams, Manfredi, Davies, Sarginson, Tommy, Lockers etc. It’s not about the best individuals on paper, it’s about a team.

I agree we need to strengthen but no need to go overboard because things aren’t going so well. Most of the Wigan team have something that most Wire players do not, winners medals.

Last season is gone. We need to be planning for the future, not resting on our laurels. You omitted Tomkins, Bateman & Sutton from that list. The only one who has even become close to being replaced is Tomkins. SOL & Tommy are another year older. Manfredi is a crock. Williams is not playing like someone who wants to be here. Sarginson could be hidden when surrounded by top players - now he isn't he's being shown for what he is - an average player.

As I said, the planning for 2019 should have taken place at the end of 2017. I would say that if planning for 2020 hasn't already happened then next season will also be a struggle.

I was highlighting the players you slated in your list hence why I didn’t mention Tomkins, Bateman and Sutton. And I’d say all three were replaced with Hardaker, Greenwood and Bullock but I can’t be bothered with that debate again.

We’re not in the best spot. You can’t win everything ever year, we will be back. There’s rumours about Hastings, Welch, Jensen, so recruitment is obviously going on.

Current thoughts - Mago out or get running up them plantations, get fit or get rid.
Maybe a back up halfback, someone with a bit of experience on a short term deal.
Big tall strong running second rower, like a McMeekin or Sironen type back rower.

Sorry. Tom Lineham is garbage and like most other players from Hull, can’t play when they leave Hull.

Toby King is garbage, the worst Warrington centre I’ve ever known.

Dec Patton is bang average.

Mike Cooper is a shadow of the player who played in the NRL.

Currie is injury prone and since his last injury hasn’t done anything of note.

Etc, Austin is a cracking player as is Mamo, Charnely, Goodwin, Hill, Clarke, etc.

All in all those average players are coached by a decent coach, and even yesterday they played terrible and still beat us.

There’s only one team to use as a barometer in this league and that’s Saints. Wire are a better side then us currently but they’ll end up with the same amount of trophies as us come the end of the season.

Saints are a shining example of what can be done in a short space of time just by appointing a good coach. We look shot at the minute but it doesn’t take much to turn things round with some decent signings and a coach who can make average players look like very good ones. Is Lam that man? Looks very unlikely at the minute and I hope we don’t rush in to appointing him without weighing up all available options.

Sadly it looks very much like that is exactly what is happening if runours are to be believed which would be a huge mistake as there should always be other candidates considered. As an audition for the job so far it has been very unimpressive - not one player looks to have improved and most look to have gone backwards and that is not an indicator of a good coach (and yes injuries play a part).

All the areas where we did well last season have (defense, fitness, attitude) are lacking for much of this season and the promised free flowing attacking game is totally absent - even when the team has possession in the opposition 20m area the players look to have totally no idea how to break down the defense.

I would give Lam the job but he needs full control over the squad and his staff etc

I’d also keep Lam but even if we appoint Craig Bellamy, we’ll win nothing without major investment in the squad.
