He also thought Josh Hodgson was a better hooker than Roby so I wouldn’t get too excited about his opinion.

Gildart is a quality player though.

Always found it strange that he picked Hodgson before Roby. I’m still waiting to see Robes have a bad game!
I suppose Bennett sees Hodgson week in and week out which we don’t. He’s a decent hooker but I’d say he’s not Roby’s level.

lol even when they are in a relegation battle, Wigan fans still claim they are the best team in the league

How's that thread going were some of your fans say they have the best players in the league in every position and wouldn't have any other player from any other team in other league.
Even the one or two that have a brain cell are saying that g they would only pick a couple from other teams.
Also, comical to write off Wayne Bennett's coaching opp pinion as just an opinion to criticise gildarts selection over Percival, but then stand by a statistic that Percival had more tries so must be a better player and say that no matter what team your playing in shouldn't affect how many tries our how well an individual performs.
Playing in a very good team, or bad team, will definitely affect individuals and their perceived performances.

In a combined 13/17 saints would have 6/8 nailed on, with wigan about 5/6 with a couple debatable.
And don't underestimate how much coaching, injuries, confidence when in a winning team and playing with other players can influence individual performances.
But we don't have to look to far back to see some of these unbeatable saints players looking every bit as vulnerable as some of the wigan players currently.

That’s a load of nonsense. Should we get rid of the top try scorer award because everyone plays in completely different teams? Their stats are absolutely comparable, they both play centre and face the same opposition and given how good this Wigan squad is, Gildart is of no disadvantage in that regard. Literally your only argument for Gildart being better is that Bennett picked him which is a poor argument because he was rubbish anyway, apart from one try.

Any top try competition is viewer friendly nonsense and has no relevance whatsoever in comparing players. Unless, of course, you agree that Greg Eden is a better winger than Tommy Makinson. Well, do you?

As for the rest of it; I've never seen a worse case of selective arguing. It's only a few posts ago you were saying none of this Wigan team would get into the Saints team. Now all of a sudden they're both equal! You really are the worst kind of troll... Well, either that or completely stupid. I'll leave it to you to decide which.

Last year Gildart was playing in a largely misfiring Wigan team that was constantly decimated by injury while Percy was in a Saints team, similar to this year, that was sweeping all before it. Remind me again how that's no disadvantage?

Remember when Wigan started to finally click towards the back end of the season and our left edge ripped you a new one? Care to compare their relative performances that day? No, thought not.

BTW, Percy is a good player. No need to cry if people think he isn't as good as Gildart. It doesn't make him a bad player if he isn't automatically the best in Superleague because he plays for Saints you know.

I love the view of ‘some’ of these Saints fans that by them currently being a better side then us that automatically means none of our players would get in their side. I’ve commented before the main reason for their turnaround is the coach and by gosh if he can get the likes of Grace, Fages and Peyroux playing as well as they are then the potential improvements he’d have had to unlock in guys like Joe Burgess, George Williams and Joe Greenwood would’ve been frightening! We had it ourselves with Michael Maguire and Saints are seeing it now.

Tell me to name a combined side with as unbiased a view as possible and I’d probably throw the following at you-

Coote
Makinson Percival Gildart Burgess
Lomax Williams
Walmsley Roby Thompson
Taia Farrell Knowles

Subs
Flower Lees Greenwood O’Loughlin

10 Saints and 7 Wiganers is about right in my eyes. If Holbrook was in charge of that lot they’d be doing even better then the current Saints side are. He makes the gap between our 7 to their 10 players even wider because he’s so far in front of Lam on current evidence.

Warrington led 16-2 in Saturday's Grand Final, but their joy was short-lived as Wigan roared back to win the Super League title and extend the Wire's 58-year wait to be champions

Re: Why do Saints look unbeatable? : Wed Jun 19, 2019 5:20 pm
A year ago, Wigan were plodding along doing F all and Saints fans were wetting themselves at the nailed-on double they were going to do. We went there in the Super 8’s and smashed them senseless on their own ground. A lot can change in a few months.

You were second in the table with players and a coach who had won at least one grand final before. This year in second are Warrington but they’re a team with an NRL failure for a head coach and a team of serial bottlers. You’ve got no chance either, sat in 7th with an awful team and coach.

how so?...there is 1 trophy to win, so your saying you have to win the big price to be a winner? Holbrook is a SL failure then?.....

The failed head coach and team of bottlers that also slapped you on your own ground and wrecked your grand final dreams? Jesus, have you any idea how ridiculous you are sounding here

Thank god there are some sensible Saints fans.
