What could we do with a player of his talent now? He could have been a legend at Wigan. Thanks for the memories anyway.

From being one of GB's best players whilst beating Australia on their own turf, to coming off the bench for Leigh. Massive waste of talent, he really could have done it all.

The absolute biggest waste of a supreme god given talent I’ve seen. He had pretty much everything and should’ve won numerous trophies, individual awards, international caps and probably played down under (where he would’ve dominated).

I’m glad I got to watch him play but saddened he didn’t hit the heights he should have. I’d love to think there’s another Gareth Hock in the Wigan junior system somewhere ready to come through but only this time that player has the sense to make the most of their talent.

Truly a wasted talent. Could have been an RL great.

They don't come along very often players of his calibre. But to throw it all away, is nothing short of a tragedy.

Both my late dad and I used love his work on that left hand side. He was devastating.

I loved watching Hock play.
I will never tire of watching his try versus saints at magic weekend when he went around fatty Wellens with ease.

And Radlinski confirms why he shouldn't be in his role at Wigan by confirming he tried to sign him for this season.

In his prime (and i mean only in his prime...) he was the best Back rower i've seen in 30 years of watching Wigan. I include people like Betts, Houghton etc or anyone from 1988 onwards.

from 2006 - 2009 His only peers during that time were Gareth Ellis and Moz but id argue that if Hock had not been a bellend, then he would have surpassed both

Id have him better than Fitzgibbon, Watmough or anyone that NZ or Aus could supply

He was a beast of a player that was an absolute joy to watch with ball in hand.

Him and Harrigan are my all time favourite 2nd rowers ever. Id include SBW but hes a loose really

Edit - just seen that Harigan actually played prop for the majority of his career...

So ignore me. I obviously aint got a clue

He hasn’t admitted that, as he?
I don’t bother reading any of the media fronted crap that comes out the club these days so hadnt bothered reading Rads opinion on Hock.

Agree with most of the above, however. One of the biggest wastes of talent I’ve ever seen. One of the best on his day and it’s true he should’ve gone to Aus and been a rip roaring success. Instead it was Widnes & Leigh.
Such a shame.
