Some poor posts on this thread.

Brandishing Warrington supporters as "scum" and bringing up anecdotal stories from 1995 and 2009 contribute nothing to the debate.

Warrington are a family club - same as all other RL clubs. They have a minority of idiots - as do we. We all have to work together to oust them from the sport. Those weren't people in the stands "protecting their families". If there was a punch up around my pregnant Mrs I wouldn't be scaling a stand and throwing punches to "protect my family". You get your family away from the fracas immediately. Catalans, Warrington and the RFL should take a zero tolerance approach and set the example...

Which leads me on to my next point. The players have got to take responsibility for their actions and the affect it can have on the terraces. Nothing justifies the scenes we saw. BUT they have to start working with the referee instead of constantly whinging, complaining and acting utterly petulant on the field. Our lads have been guilty of it too. Chris Hill wants to rethink his approach as a captain. I thought his temperament was terrible and it set the tone. He lost control. Work with the referee. Get your players away and have a word with them when things get too heated. Same for Catalans.

Internally I hope someone pulls Kenny Edward's aside. He ran in at the end looking to just throw a punch and appeared to goade the supporters in the stands. I think it was Remi Casty who was quite rightly raging pulling him away. It wasn't 100% clear from the footage on Sky but if he was goading supporters I would hand out a ban/fine. Unacceptable.

In fairness to the rest of the players - they all tried to calm it down and just end the game. I would like to think there is a rule or an exception to be made where in that rare scenario at the end of a game should it happen again, the referee can put it on report and just end the match. Clap the fans and get off the field.

Give over. A few numpties on rlfans do not represent "the majority of Warrington supporters".

Fair comment, cadoo.

And you're right that players have to take responsibility. Something that the "bring back the biff" campaigners conveniently ignore, in my book.

Hill's attitude was a disgrace. And has been for a while.

Wire have long attracted a certain scum element. Not sure why. A friend of mine who supports them says the same thing, but feels they are mostly footy yobs who turn up when the club is doing well ... which with Wembley just around the corner would probably be around now.

Rugby League is developing a hooliganism problem, it's been building for years. Rugby league also has a problem admitting it has a problem and blaming it on football hooligans.

Now I know you're right with finals attracting casual supporters that are primarily out for the day, rather than the rugby. But why would these same casual fans gearing up for a session at Wembley, be spending all this cash traveling to France? These people involved in this trouble are official club merchandise wearing hardcore supporters that go week in, week out. The same that kick off every time I go to an away in Warrington.

Rugby league is developing a problem that Warrington already has and we shouldn't be making excuses to hide from it.

Perhaps the preasence of CCTV cameras and dear admission prices at the bigger football clubs may have something to do with trouble spreading to our game and the smaller football clubs.

In addition to supporting the Warriors, I also support a non league club who have also notice a incease in troublesome supporters.

Current thoughts - Mago out or get running up them plantations, get fit or get rid.
Maybe a back up halfback, someone with a bit of experience on a short term deal.
Big tall strong running second rower, like a McMeekin or Sironen type back rower.

Chris Hill is like a 7 year old girl the way he goes on moaning and whining at the ref.

On another note, why was the crowd fight being shown on TV? I know it’s filmed by the French but sky should have blanked the screen or cut to something else, no matter what the issue is to show fighting in the crowd is embarrassing.

All the off field trouble puts people off going to games, that will stop people going to Catalans. I also blame the stewards, who are probably fresh off the boat minimum wage stand there and don’t give a toss type instead of doing their jobs and making sure that things are dealt with quickly and efficiently and the police are involved too.

Over the years, especially when they played at Wilderspool, I knew of many supporters who would never go to a game at Warrington.

And if some of the French supporters are now getting a bit bitter and twisted against English supporters, it perhaps could have something to do with our possible exit from the EU.

I know Brexit gets blamed for a lot of outlandish reasons but I think this is up there with the craziest. Even if you are right in blaming the Catalan supporters for this fracas it is not going to be because of Brexit. Catalonian people are probably in sympathy with us in our desire for independence They wish it for their own people.

In terms of the stuff in the stands, I’ll back Wire to the hilt. This has been coming and Catalans need to get a grip. There was a tense atmosphere at our last game there in April 2018 and there were some ugly scenes part way through the game outside the bars to the left hand hand side of the away end.

Catalans have a problem IMO. There are groups of lads turning up to games and standing under that away section looking for trouble. I went down and stood down there during that April 2018 game and had to bite my lip because there were people there looking for trouble.

Did you report this to the Catalans club at the time?? If so what was there response???

On a side note - how good was Tomkins on Saturday. He absolutely bossed the game and his range of passing is ridiculous.

It’s just a shame all the talk is about the trouble at the end. Tomkins delivered an absolute master class during the game. He was simply brilliant.
