Some poor posts on this thread.

Brandishing Warrington supporters as "scum" and bringing up anecdotal stories from 1995 and 2009 contribute nothing to the debate.

Warrington are a family club - same as all other RL clubs. They have a minority of idiots - as do we. We all have to work together to oust them from the sport. Those weren't people in the stands "protecting their families". If there was a punch up around my pregnant Mrs I wouldn't be scaling a stand and throwing punches to "protect my family". You get your family away from the fracas immediately. Catalans, Warrington and the RFL should take a zero tolerance approach and set the example...

Which leads me on to my next point. The players have got to take responsibility for their actions and the affect it can have on the terraces. Nothing justifies the scenes we saw. BUT they have to start working with the referee instead of constantly whinging, complaining and acting utterly petulant on the field. Our lads have been guilty of it too. Chris Hill wants to rethink his approach as a captain. I thought his temperament was terrible and it set the tone. He lost control. Work with the referee. Get your players away and have a word with them when things get too heated. Same for Catalans.

Internally I hope someone pulls Kenny Edward's aside. He ran in at the end looking to just throw a punch and appeared to goade the supporters in the stands. I think it was Remi Casty who was quite rightly raging pulling him away. It wasn't 100% clear from the footage on Sky but if he was goading supporters I would hand out a ban/fine. Unacceptable.

In fairness to the rest of the players - they all tried to calm it down and just end the game. I would like to think there is a rule or an exception to be made where in that rare scenario at the end of a game should it happen again, the referee can put it on report and just end the match. Clap the fans and get off the field.

Spot on. As a Wire fan since the 70’s I could quote instances of thuggish behaviour from most clubs fans...including my own. There was no justification for what happened, whatever the provocation. I hope the perpetrators are identified (shouldn’t be too difficult) and banned for life.
There is a feeling on our board, and has been for some time, that Hill should not be the on field captain. I suspect that next season he won’t be.

I think Cadoo said it all, there are idiots at all clubs. As an example only, have you forgotten about the Wigan Ultras, already?
They were formed with the intent of trying to create an atmosphere of fun and enthusiasm for your club, but were sadly infiltrated by a number of idiots. As I state, all clubs have been blighted at some point or another by them. To state that RL is developing a problem that Warrington already has, gives the impression that you think that Warrington is causing the spread of these issues. This is nonsense, there's always been problems with crowd behaviour in RL, they've never gone away and have, and will, surface every now and again. Ask your dad or granddad and I'm sure they'll be able to tell you stories of a scuffle or worse that happened donkeys years ago.
By making sweeping statements, when neither you nor I attended this game, just stirs up more negative feeling between sets of supporters.
It's best left to the RFL, SL and both clubs to investigate what took place, why it took place and who were the culprits. Then pass any information and evidence to the relevant authorities for punishment.

I'm not implying that Warrington are spreading this issue, I'm saying they have a hooligan problem, which they do and which the club don't seem to want to do anything about.

Over the last 5 seasons I've been to every Warrington away match and seen trouble all but one time. This season I saw ~30 16-23yo lads in "casual" attire run from the south stand and charge a group of Wigan fans. Not much happened because the police were there in TAU vans in 10 seconds, presumably because they expected trouble. I've seen a Wigan lad get in the hit in the head with a glass bottle thrown at him between the west terrace and the 3 pigeons - I administered a bit of basic first aid to him. They're just two examples of deficiency over never seen anything similar happen at any other grounds.

I am familiar with the Ultras Brigantes and don't see what they have to do with anything, other than to try and deflect attention away from the problem your (presumably) club has.

Interestingly enough I've heard their's a Brigantes book coming out soon, called something like "The Wigan Ultras. Along the M62 with Rugby Leagues wrecking crew."

I'd say it might have something to do with the fact that Tomkins loved a player in the face who was being held by one of his team mates, leaving him defenceless. Hardly a shock though, given how much of a slime he is.

Good player though

Mamo headbutted Sam, Sam hit him twice before Mamo was grabbed...but cool story

It would honestly be doing us a favour at this point

I am not deflecting attention away from Warrington supporters, I just gave the example of the Ultra's who were, for a time, causing trouble at most of your away matches. I'm highlighting the issue that most towns, and sports clubs have their fair share of idiots, and all clubs are aware of it as they employ stewards. Your just using this to have a pop at Warrington supporters, which given your experience (should that be the case - and I can give examples of similar episodes of violence I've encountered at various clubs, Wigan included), I can accept as a reason. However, we cannot just believe that this has happened just in Warrington over the past 5 years, it's been common place for over getting on for 50 years that I've watched the game.
I've openly admitted we attract idiots, and they should be punished, but feel free to be in denial about the problems at your own club.

My god, a Warrington fan finally admits it may be their fans fault......before quickly moving on to the real key point of this Catalans v Warrington incident - that Wigan are at least as bad.

So headbutting Sam gets no action but Sam gets three matches for defending himself!
