Current thoughts - Mago out or get running up them plantations, get fit or get rid. Maybe a back up halfback, someone with a bit of experience on a short term deal. Big tall strong running second rower, like a McMeekin or Sironen type back rower.
I get the medical aspects of it, im just wondering why there are not any cases of ex RL players with brain damage since this rule is is fairly recent.
I think only time will tell and when the lawyers come sniffing around in 10/20/30 years time the RFL cam say ‘As soon as we were made aware of CTE and he dangers of sequential concussions, we put these steps into place to prevent it’.
I’ve played rugby, football and boxed and heading a football and getting punched in the head are worse than anything I got in rugby apart from clash of heads a couple of times throughout the years.
Heading a football and getting punched in the head happens a lot more in those sports including training. I’d say both were worse for the noggin than rugby.

I’ve been knocked out cold playing rugby 4 times in 25yrs of playing prop forward - I tended to put my head in places it shouldn’t go - and predictably ended up with concussion on each occasion. This was back in the days of shoving smelling salts up your nostril or throwing cold water over you to wake you up, quick jog to warm up and back on again.
I didn’t know the risks, not many did. It’s possible I may well suffer myself in years to come. I bloody well hope not but the more we can do now to alleviate any risks to the players the better.
I can imagine some of our younger players having that edge to them, they aren't used to losing games in a Wigan shirt even if it's been at academy level.
Looks terrible to me. Budgy is finished as a top class winger. He has become lazy, looks lethargic, runs sideways more than forwards and has lost his speed which was what made him a great winger. He should be nowhere near the team once Manfredi and Davies are fit.
I think he needs a kick up the backside and also needs to get his head in gear as to what he actually wants as a professional rugby league player. His head was turned and off he went to the NRL. He couldn’t cut it there because he hadn’t the experience. He went two or three years before he should have done. He has lost a bit of speed but is still pretty quick. No way should he be finished at the top. He requires a coach who can motivate him and the rest is up to him.

Problem with budgie is that he has the turning circle of an oil tanker, he’s fine in a clear run to the line but that’s it
With Toronto reaching SL they will no doubt be looking to strengthen prior to the start of the season.
I wonder if IL will be looking to move on any of our players during the off season?
Escare, Budgie maybe?
Both of these plus Clubb, Flower & Navarette would be decent signings for Toronto. I’m sure if they asked nicely, most Wigan fans would have a whip around for the flight cost, to get them off the books.

Because of the increased fitness/muscle mass of players these days i would suspect that the collision speed/impacts are harder. Plus with us now living in a blame/claim culture people are more worried about such cliams. Just a thought.
