Slightly O/T: Salary cap breaches in RU : Tue Nov 05, 2019 11:20 am
Article doesnt state the scale of the breach but thats a hefty sentence

https://www.skysports.com/rugby-union/n ... cap-breach

bit at the bottom is quite interesting:

The Salary Cap Regulations stipulate that a points deduction may be imposed in the current season (2019-20) only.

The owner has tried to get round the salary cap by supposed business deals,as far as I'm aware these kind of deals are not allowed to circumnavigate the salary cap

Without doubt he would have to be a marquee signing. With the SBW to Toronto signing if RL clubs with cash start throwing it around for a change we may change the tide and bring back our RU exports.

Owen Farrell will have to wait for at least another year when we’re likely to have a space free for him.

I’d never take a punt on Owen Farrell tbh. He’s got no professional experience as a pro rugby league player, unlike Sonny Bill, so it would be a huge gamble. If he’s stayed in league would he have broke through? Maybe but I tend to think the move to Union for his dad was an incredible thing to happen to him, as he’s found an amazing career. In league I look at him and think he’s not quick enough for the backs and not big enough for the forwards.

There’s 20 plus Union players I’d rather target.

I disagree. I think he’d be an outstanding looseforward in the mold of his Dad, Scully and Lockers. I’d say he’s not much smaller than Scully either.
I know a few lads who played with him at Pats, I know it’s 10/12 years ago, but they said he’s the best player they played with and he was a year younger playing up.

Completely disagree NK, I think he would have been a sensation in RL had he stayed and probably the next captain of Wigan and current GB/England captain. If he became available (unlikely) I’d be very disappointed if we didn’t go in for him. We’d just have to make sure this deal was a signed contract this time...
