Some scientists claim that hydrogen, because it is so plentiful, is the basic building block of the universe. I dispute that. I say there is more stupidity than hydrogen, and that is the basic building block of the universe.

A special tablet. Will that get past WADA? Don't tell Gabe Hamlin, he'll want one.
In 100 years we will have probably invented time travel, so wouldn't it be easier to snatch Boston, Hanley, Gregory, Edwards, Kenny, Robinson, Farrell all in their mid twenties from the past and put them into a Wigan super team.
We could rename the club Wigan Wormhole Warriors.
Hope they build this time machine (maybe they can hook it up to the church clock tower behind the bees knees).
Pity we won't be around to see Wigan Wormhole Warriors versus Venus Vikings, Mars Mauraders, Jupiter Jiants and Leigh Centurions.
You missed off Super Kelvin Skerrett, if he's not too busy coaching. Not Adrian Morley though he wasn't that good
You are talking about the present. I am talking about the future. I agree that it cant be done at present but what if future technology allows for a special tablet that can be taken an hour before games and gives an instant increase in strength and speed? Then you have the implants to increase weight and size. Player is pumped up and then plays the game with the tablet in the system and then after the game the tablet wears off and player is deflated. I get the problems with skin etc but again, you are thinking the here and now. I am talking about the future and what could be possible with breakthroughs.
If 100 years ago i had told you there would be driverless cars, your reaction would of been the same, to dismiss it but now its very close to reality.
A pill that increases size and strength already exists; anabolic steroids and growth hormone can be bought in pill form but are usually not used because it decimates the liver. They are currently banned as a performance enhancing drug and always will be, but again you are ignoring the facts about how the human body works. This can't be changed just because "technology" moves on, our bodies will only naturally change through evolution. You lack the knowledge of how strength and size are obtained. It's not something a pill can fix in an hour. It's not a case of tricking your body into thinking it's stronger, it's a physical change in the body that takes years by tearing the muscle fibres down, and building them back bigger and stronger using protein that we eat.
Steroids aren't a potion from Harry Potter or voodoo magic, it's essentially an instruction to the body; to build muscle tissue. A steroid is just a hormone that tells the body to build muscle and because it's being introduced into the body at a much higher quantity than it produces naturally, that growth is also sped up.
That growth has to be supported through calories, if you don't eat enough food, you will not grow stronger or bigger. A dedicated, intermediate lifter is probably eating 3-500cals above maintenance (that which is expended through the day) and with plenty gym sessions a week is probably at a generous estimate with good genetics is putting on around 1lb muscle per month, or 12lb/6kg a year. That's if they are consistently hitting their gym and food goals. Imagine what a person has to eat, for the body to use and not store as fat, to be able to add a years worth of size and strength in an hour. Are you also proposing that a years worth of newly acquired muscle fibers then disappear after the pill wears off? Where do they go to? Well, it's likely that the body would break it down into hemoglobin and I'd say you'd die from kidney failure.
I still can't wrap my head around why when presented with a multitude of facts about how the body works you double down, turn into mystic meg and tell me technology will advance sufficiently in 100 years to change that. The body will still work the same in 100 years. It will still work the same in 1000 years. Using Darwin's model, it's estimated that any significant and lasting change will take millions of years. I'm not saying never (look at the natural strength of some animals for their size for example) but I'm saying that for now, and for the next few million years, what you propose is as impossible as unassisted flying and breathing underwater.
By the way, you two examples of bionics and driverless cars are not relevant. They show advancements in computing and nothing more. Neither require the body to fundamentally change how it works. I am not skeptical about the continued progress of technology.

Thats all well and good but your line of thinking is what holds technology and evolution back. You have to think big and dream even bigger. It is not impossible that a special pill could be developed in the future that alters the body in ways which seem impossible right now. A special pill could even be developed that allows a human to run as fast as a cheetah. Why are cheetahs so fast? They dont have anything inside them that a human does not have. It might seem crazy right now but in many decades/centuries to come, its not beyond reality that players could be hitting speeds of 70 mph. It might not even be a pill that could achieve this but major surgery to add extra man made muscles or replace muscles with much larger man made muscles. Anything is possible, nothing is impossible.
I can see technology is not your strong point and that you dont like to think outside of the box.

Players of the past, no matter how good would not be in the same league as the players of the future that i am talking about. Offiah for example would be slow compared to a player that has the advantage of future technology. As ive just said above, if a cheetah can hit 70 mph, theres no reason a human cant if the muscle is modified to be like that of the cheetah.

Four legs? Extremely flexible spine? Enlarged lungs, heart and arteries? Oh and a relatively lightweight body (the exact opposite of what you're proposing).
I'm liking this bit now "Thats all well and good but your line of thinking is what holds technology and evolution back. You have to think big and dream even bigger."
I agree Elon Musk Tony Stark Susan Boyle Matt Monro
They all dreamed a dream, the impossible dream! Thought big, didn't let facts get in their way!
In fact, I can see it now. New backroom staff list
Assistant coach - John winder Video and techn analysis - Tony Stark Assistant vid & tech - Elon Musk (hes only assistant as he hasnt achieved ad much as Tony Stark, I've seen both of what theyve produced and Tony starks are far more advanced). Nutrition - anyone from the Russion/east German athletics federation of the 70s/80s plus Alberto salazar, and the guy from Sky cycling Nutritional testers - Lance Armstrong and Ben Johnson The womens team could have used Flo Jo but shes not available for some reason. Motivational speaker - Susan Boyle (Someone else who "Dreamed a Dream") Assistant motivation speaker - Jordan Belfort Forwards coach - Kelvin Skerrett (obviously) Backs coach - James Pearce (for those of you who dont know him, hes the coach who is credited with changing the way the game is played in 2145, we can easily go get him in one of Tony or Elons time machine/spaceship thingymibobs, dream big guys!!!!). Kicking coach - Jim Sullivan (see above only backwards) Kit man - Rugby League Roy aka Twosevenzero (if it ain't broke dont fix it )
Overall coaching and Backroom staff Co-ordinator - ????? Not sure, someone who thinks big, dreams big, doesn't let facts get in the way and Enfocers the Wigan message. Any suggestions?

I love anything like this. Admittedly its a bit far fetched right now but thats only because the technology has not been invented yet, but medical technology of the future could come in. Its possible that in the distant future, we can make man made spines and organs such as articial hearts and lungs etc. Once that becomes possible, its then possible to tune them to do whatever you want. These advances will no doubt eventually come due to there being a need for them for life saving treatment and then they will be picked up by the sporting community in order to make athletes perform better. Somebody mentioned the Super League robots earlier and its not beyond reality that future players could be humans with robotic insides. Its all very 'Tomorrows World' but so was many things we now take for granted such as microwave ovens and smartphones.

If you cant embrace the future then dont bother. Let me guess, you're the type of person that refuses to use a Motorway and still goes to Blackpool on the back roads and use A-Z maps instead of sat nav?

I think you misunderstand me. I do use motorways, I have got a sat-nav
I don't go to Blackpool as much as I should but that's for Religuous reasons.
On the other hand I do work in Communications and I'll let you know that some of the new 5g technology will be incredible(the 5g phone stuff were doing just now is only the simple/easy use of this technology).
Surgeons performing operations from hundreds of miles away using VR and 5G (They're testing the latency of the signals as we speak) amongst other things will be routinely used in the near future.
I'm not sure why you think any of my post is not reasonable? Open up your mind, embrace change, embrace opportunity, the impossible is only the impossible until it is done. I mean, look at what has happened on Earth since the Wolfs last won the league! Dog in space Colour television The internet Women prime ministers Man on the moon discovered DNA Mobile phones Tou get my point (pretty much everything in the world since they last won it!).
Just imagine where we'll be in another 65 years!!!
I'm with you brother, let these Luddites continue to mock whilst us visionaries get on shaping the future!
