Out for 4-5 months after having surgery, big blow as he’s one of best centres in the league. I’d have Hardaker and Bibby in centres with French at fullback to start the season

Me too but I anticipate Hardaker staying at FB and Hankinson at centre to be honest. Does anyone know what centres (if any) are coming through the ranks? I can see someone getting a debut there at some point in 2020 with us losing Forsyth and Worthington.

Looks strong. I certainly think this is one of two options with:

French
Manfredi
Hardaker
Bibby
Burgess
Tommy
Hastings

as the other.

Hopefully we'll see a few different combinations in pre-season to work out which line up looks the best.

Clears my mind about what we should do now. It’s got to be Hardaker in the centres and French at fullback IMO. We need that pace at full back and I’d probably have gone that way even had Gildart been fit but it’s a no brainer now.

The Gildart injury is a worry for the long term as much as anything. Once shoulder problems start, they can be difficult to get over as proven by players like Lee Mossop and Sam Burgess. At least Gildart will get a bit more of an easy time out in the centres I suppose.

Apologies for going a little off topic but that’s a really good point about mossop...I think a lot of people are quick to forget how good he was up until his nrl move! Was some player when he could hit without damaging his shoulders! Hopefully the gildart injury doesn’t have any complications around ligaments/tendons etc and he can get back into it quickly!

Bibby seems the obvious replacement for Gildart at left centre. Hankinson surely in at right centre.
I'd like to see Hanks get a good run of games at right centre so he can build up some form in that position.
Can't see anyone but Zac at FB.
New kit out tomorrow with squad numbers not far behind usually.

Bit of a blow but for me it gives Bibby the chance to play in his favoured left centre position which will hopefully help him as he settles in. Play Zak on the right and Bevan at fullback.

He built a good relationship with Hastings as well in the latter part of last season, so hopefully that should help them both adjust.

The key is where Lam see’s French if everyone is fit. If he see’s him at #6 he needs to start the season there to build a relationship with Hastings & Hankinson to centre. If he see’s him at #1 then he starts the season there and Hardaker goes to centre.
