Re: Greenwood to Leeds : Tue Feb 25, 2020 10:31 am
Greenwood is so frustrating as he has all the attributes to be a top quality player, and has proven to be that at the back end of 2018 and in the odd cameo last year. Think the thing that lets him down is his lack of heart. Always looks timid in contact but that may be down to the concussion troubles making him second guess himself in collisions. Shame as there’s a quality player in there somewhere.

He would make a good prop forward with a bit more weight on him and a bit of heart,I'm very surprised that playing in a scrum cap hasn't been suggested

Always found the 'he's soft' line a bit difficult to swallow to be honest. Would he really have got this far if that was true?

No player is soft but he’s not got the steel a lot of other players (forwards especially) have got. He’s got as far as he has on his fantastic physical attributes IMO. Not many forwards are 6ft 4, 17 stones but can run with the pace of a back. He’s a great athlete but there’s always been question marks over his mentality.

Legacy of some poor signings by Wane/Rads. Feel sorry for Lam having to deal with this but comes with the job as a coach I guess.

I think the reference has been made before, but he's very much a Simon Haughton player, rather than a Denis Betts.

Must admit, when he was at saints i wasn't a massive fan, but its undeniable that he's genetically gifted.

Very good going forward, but awful in defence, didn't miss tackles because he was nowhere to be seen, i was very surprised when went to the nrl, but thought maybe he could sort his defence out like elliot whitehead did(similarish player).

AS many of you guys have mentioned, he's not got the dog mentality of a wigan pack player.

Re: Greenwood to Leeds : Tue Feb 25, 2020 12:36 pm
I think the toughness comment is very fair.

It’s also relative to others he is competing against.

Nobody is saying he is soft not many who take to a rugby field pro or otherwise could be described as soft.

I think however maybe his physical gifts are partly responsible for his lack of mental toughness.

I’m assuming he came through the grassroutrs game without too many difficulties or having to work too hard given his size and athleticism.

He joined a strong Saints set up and again looked to walk through the Academy and into first team fairly quickly.

He was in a very strong Saints side surrounded by good players.

Then off he went to the Titans, maybe too young and not having ever really needed to struggle or face consistent struggles on the field. Week in week out at the Titans you are going to face that and obviously he didn’t step up to the mark.

He just looks to me like a lad who had it too easy in his crucial development stage and never developed that toughness he needs to kick on.

Maybe the Leeds move will be a kick in the booty that he needs and it is t too late for him to kick on and become the player his physical gifts could make him, time will tell, but I doubt it.

I’ve no doubt though he may pick his times turn turn up every time he plays Wigan in the future.

Oddly enough you don't need to be "in the know" to observe a lack of bottle, soft and him sulking in the reserves. :)

Believe nothing you hear and only half of what you see.
