Withdrawal symptoms. : Sat Mar 21, 2020 8:59 am
I do not usually watch archived games on Wigan TV in full. Usually, if it is not this season's first or junior teams I will drop in and out, looking at the various highlights. Because of enforced idleness, I have started having a look at some of the other offerings, and I had forgotten just how good some of those teams had been. I know that it was a different planet but seeing Offiah score ten against Leeds in 1992 has cheered me up somewhat. I wonder if we will ever see the likes again?

I just watched the 1988 cup final. Some of the rugby we played that day was magnificent. I forgot just how good Andy Gregory was.

Is it the game that has changed or is it the skill levels of the players? I know that today players are super fit and that that closes the gap between the true naturals and the give it 100% plodders but the magic seems to have gone out of the game.

Some good stuff out there to keep us all amused. Obviously the Wigan v Hull classic cc final is always a good watch. I have found all my Warrington Season Review dvd's that the club used to to do. Some good reminiscing potential. When really struggling I dig out the World War 3 game. You don't see games like that anymore.

I haven't. I judge the skill level and rugby brain of players today on people like Andy Gregory. My favourite British half of all time.

Today’s rugby is all done on a lap top or flip chart, a players natural ability is governed by the need by constantly having to follow a script. Off the cuff stuff nowadays is deemed to risky.

I haven’t seen a better scrum half since Andy Gregory, certainly not in the British game

Is that the year Leeds were accused of having more than their permitted quota of Vikings, imported from York?

Pretty decent half backs they had though with Erik the red & Harold bluetooth. I think Vicky was playing loose forward as well :)
