Aside from that I'll be interested to see how the match review panel decide on "the tackle" on Tommy Leuluai in the second half 51:40. It looks a blatant forearm to his face. Hasting was furious, but the referee said he'd missed it and therefore couldn't ask the video ref to review it!!

The potential shoulder charge on budge’s chin was a bad one as well. Not sure who it was and probably looks ten times as bad slowed down but he seemed to have led with the shoulder and made a late attempt to wrap his arms around.

Just re-watched and wow that was shocking, absolutely disgusting cheap shot. Reminiscent of Newton on Long. Looked like Jordan Lane #21.

Not sure it was Newton level but it was reckless. I’ve just been pausing it and flicking through it from both angles they show and Tommy dips in to it as he passes the ball. Had he not done that the contact would’ve probably been around the chest and not a problem. I’d say a couple of games may come his way but I don’t think they’ll be going up to Fours or fives. I didn’t feel it was one where he’s purposely thrown a forearm at him tbh, just circumstances have got him in a poor position.

Still he doesn’t play for Wigan so it may be zero and a warning for Tommy for dipping his head in to an opponents forearm.

Nothing from the disciplinary, two Hull players have got Grade A charges, zero penalty notices for both.

A little bit of ‘they’re struggling for numbers so let’s keep the grades low’ on that one I think. The one on Leuluai wasn’t malicious IMO but it was a ban every day of the week.

Feel like I’m repeating myself here but honestly I’m running out of superlatives to throw at the young lads coming in. Havard, Ollie, Byrne, Shorrocks, Smithies* and Smith have been outstanding recently. This is an area where Lam has truly exceeded and deserves all the praise IMO. It can’t have been an easy decision to throw youngsters in especially when we do have experienced players who could fill that role but done it he has and it’s paid off.

Shorrocks looks like he was made for 1st team rugby. I can see him keeping Greenwood out of the semi final team. 42 tackles yesterday off the bench.

Ollie Partington 62 tackles and 123 metres.

But where is young Shorrocks going to end up playing? I cannot imagine him being at his best being thrown against the biggest lads down the middle over and over which happened last night. I can see what you mean about the Greenwood role. It may be that he has better hands than Havard and could play that 13 link role. Interestingly the Sky commentators still seem to think that the Shorrockses are brothers as was said at one point.

He’s taken to it like a duck to water Shorrocks and I said in another thread, he may just have made Smithies sweat on his place. They’ll both need managing a bit if they’re playing centrally but both are managing the physical side reasonably comfortably. I’d say Shorrocks in particular is looking dangerous with the ball and making ground without too much fuss. We’re in such a fortunate position next year in the back row, to have Bateman, Farrell, Isa, Smithies, Shorrocks and maybe Greenwood, Lockers and Wells to choose from.

At present if it was a choice between Smithies or Shorrocks in our strongest side I'd be leaning towards Shorrocks. Both are quality players but Shorrocks doesn't seem to give away silly penalties or get distracted trying to rile someone up. Plus he's a better ball player.

It's just a shame we're losing Harry Rushton as he's another outstanding talent who looked every bit as good as Havard in the academy.
