Wigan Specialist Wingers over the last seven seasons:-

2014 - Charnley, Manfredi, Tierney.
2015 - Burgess, Charnley, Manfredi, Tierney.
2016 - Charnley, Manfredi, Tierney.
2017 - Burgess, Manfredi, Marshall, Tierney.
2018 - Burgess, Davies, Manfredi, Marshall,
2019 - Burgess, Davies, Manfredi, Marshall,
2020 - Burgess, Manfredi, Marshall.

Except for 2014, 2016 and this season where we have had a centre on the wing, we have had four specialist wingers, so a new specialist winger like Davies, Johnstone etc for next season would be more than welcome, especially if Burgess is as rumoured leaving for Salford.

The loss of one of the many forward players would not be missed!

How many of your 3rd and 4th choice were on first team wages at the time? Seeing as they are all academy products who broke in through injury I would say none. As soon as one of them was promoted (marshall) one or two of them left (davies)

I doubt due to injuries that either dom or budgie are on a wage they should be having both signed new deals

SAINTS THE ORIGINAL AND PERENNIAL CHEATS

For sale full Saints kit (circa 1989). Shirts in pristine condition, but shorts badly soiled.

For 27 - 0 you get a trophy
For 75 - 0 you get sod all.

Wigan had eight in a row
Saints have five in a row

And Tierney only played 40 games for Wigan in 5 years. He played almost as many on loan/dual reg for other clubs in that time.

Amended above - Tierney was a fullback who could cover wing, the same as Hanley so I've taken him out.

We have only ever had three wingers when one of them is a youngster. As soon as that youngster has become established then either one of the players ahead of him has left (Charnley, Burgess then Burgess again) or the youngster himself has left (Davies). Minor exception to the rule when Manfredi has had long term injuries this keeping Davies and Marshall around longer. We can't keep three established specialist wingers at the club. One will always leave.

Dear Wigan fans.

On behalf of all Salford fans, please go forth & multiply and stop trying to strip our club of it's top talent. What has happened to the "famous" Wigan priduction line that means you now need to make an annual trip to little old Salford to try and rekindle former glories? I mean look at the way you've ruined Jacko.... he's half (being polite) the player he was for us.

I know 2 years is a hell of a long time to endure not having won a trophy but stay strong and you'll be back challenging before long.

Yours,

Slim

PS. Grimmy you seem like an exception to the rule on here, so you're exempt from this mate. :thumb:

6 ex Wigan players in Salford’s cup final lineup (including 4 who came through our academy). Sarginson would’ve made it 7.

Thank us whenever.

What part of lockdown forbids people posting on an internet forum?

Maybe Wiganers knew about COVID before the rest of us last year? That would explain the extreme home end social distancing that took place at the DW during the play off game.

Keep fantasising about Watson you lot as he will not be at Wigan anytime soon. :D

you can have 1 back as hes garbage, you can keep the 7 you have from us......

maybe 1 day you will have an academy like all the big boys instead of a foundation that plays 3 games a year

If you're implying that we've somehow missed him, I'm not sure the stats support that.

Read the thread properly please , I'm implying Salford have had more out of Burke than we got out of him.
