Agreed & Kevin Brown was surprisingly impressive a few weeks back too.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Tomkins move into that kind of role when he retires.

Either way it's time for a clear out.

Sat watching him just praying they would offer him a full time gig and he would have the time to accept. He was excellent and he has a profile that can only help the sport.

Instead we’ll be stuck with Clarke and O’Connor

I don't recall anyone saying he's been a disgrace to the shirt or not bothered?

I said a few weeks he needed to step up his game a bit and he has. He is without a doubt a very good player and I hope that we retain him for next season.

If we are to play any meaningful part in the playoffs he needs to step up again as I don't think that we have any other player who has the ability to dictate how we play and to take us nearer to Saints. French obviously has the singular ability but Hastings can and I hope galvanise the team to perform at a higher level and intensity.

Jackson Hastings said on wigan tv after Warrington game that although he was man of steel last year he felt he was a better all round player since joining wigan he said he was learning from the experienced players around him and wasn't trying to do it all himself, seemed to be really enjoying himself here and I for one would be surprised if he left

I honestly can’t fathom the OTT criticism of Hastings. His on the field performances have been nothing but 100% committed (possibly tries to do too much at times!), his post match reactions reaffirm that commitment.

I hope he stays for next year and beyond.

Come on its not that hard to work out - he's committed the cardinal sin of daring to suggest he'd like to go back to the NRL one day. That's unforgivable for some of our fans, just look at Budgie and the stick be gets, or the vitriol sent Sam's way for daring to leave.

It would be fantastic if Hastings could stay.

I'd be delighted if he decided to stay long term, a five season partnership with Smith could be magical for us.
