Outstanding tonight, absolutely brilliant. The tackle at the end will see him sat down for a week or two but it was hardly the hanging offence Terry O’Connor seemed to feel it was.

More of the same going forward.

And yet on a positive note it will mean playing Faz on the left.

I thought Faz went well through the middle but that left side is clearly his best position.

Nice problems.

Just about to go do some work!

Re: Joe Greenwood : Sat Oct 31, 2020 1:22 am
He was a game changer tonight. His break leading to one try and an offload for another. I said in a previous discussion on him that he brings something different to our attack and I thought it was illustrated perfectly tonight. Probable ban coming his way but maybe even that has a positive connotation in that it's the first time that he's shown real aggression. Maybe it's a realisation on his part that he can't simply drift through games. He has it in him to be one of the best 2nd rows in SL if he can maintain the attitude he's shown in recent games on a consistent basis.

He’s a player who whilst facing increased competition from Bateman coming back, could really benefit from that lift I think Bateman will give the team. He’s a guy who gets extra out of those around him is Bateman and that aggression and intent he brings will allow Greenwood to really concentrate on punching holes in teams. That is as long as he’s still here mind, I wouldn’t be surprised if he was moved on to make room and on last nights performance, there’s a few teams who’d love to pick him up.

How good is it when you are reminded of Bateman coming back when you'd forgotten?

I'd like to keep JG, him Farrell and Bateman could be a great back row. He's improved each week I think since he came back in. He definitely seems a confidence player who lacks self belief.

It’s mouthwatering. I just pointed out in another thread that Faz made 166 metres and 58 tackles last night and Greenwood was brilliant. You’ve then got Isa who was superb and played with an intensity that lifted everyone and the youngsters Smithies, Shorrocks etc and when you add Bateman in to that, it’s an embarrassment of riches. It’s also a really good mix of strengths between them and we certainly shouldn’t ever be beaten in those areas of the field.

It’ll be huge in what happens to him because he’s already hit two of the long ban markers-

1-Who do you play for? Wigan-in trouble

2-Did the Sky team become absolutely outraged by the indiscretion? Absolutely, they went wild. Worst crime since the Hatton Garden heist.

3-previous record? Not sure.

First time in a long time Greenwood has been able to string a good run of games together...that’s quite simply why he performed like he’d did last night. It’s been coming for weeks and is no surprise whatsoever.

It’s a shame he didn’t get sent off. The ref did us no favours just giving him yellow.

The disciplinary would have taken a red card into account when determining the length of the ban so he’ll end up with an extra game as a result.
