Interesting to hear him say that, if a move to SL was on the cards, Wigan is the place he'd
definitely go to.

Whisper it quietly, but that sounds like a player actually repaying & appreciating the effort/time/money a club has put into them.

Yes because he would be turning down a massive contract from elsewhere to join us

Sounds like we’re very much a back up plan. My thoughts on that would depend on how he came out of his deal with us financially.

I don't see George Burgess coming back to Wigan unless he can't get an NRL gig. If you listen to the SL podcast he speaks about maybe re-signing at Wigan in a couple of years so doesn't sound like an option for next year anyway.

Correct, because he wouldn't be doing that. It's easy to be loyal when no one is trying hard to persuade you not to be.

Of course it does, just completely irrelevant to this situation. Choosing Wigan and choosing the money are likely the same thing in this circumstance.

Not sure where this absolute certainty has come from? If GB returns to SL, he'll have plenty of interest, especially on a low wedge. He'd be a relatively cheap gamble, with a huge upside.

I remember it was only a few months ago that there was the same absolute certainty that he wouldn't retire, especially with 2 years left to run on his deal. I mean why would he walk away from a contract :SLEEPY:

low wedge..... cheap

So we agree, there is no big money offer he would be turning down to stay loyal to Wigan. I refer you to my previous comment - it's easy to be loyal when no one is trying hard to persuade you not to be.

From who? I said someone (possibly yourself, can't remember) was wrong to say it was his moral obligation to walk away from his contract. Hardly the same as saying it certainly wouldn't happen.

Depends what you class as big money. You listen to some on here and if another side ordered 20p more they'd be scrambling to accept it.

Plenty of people said they'd happily sit by and see out their contract, please don't try and pretend that never happened. Luckily enough GB did see that it wasn't the right thing to do. If you're being paid to do a job, and paid well btw, and you can't physically do it then you need to walk away.

There's a whole conversation around this subject. Another example -plenty of people said Escare did the right thing by sitting out two years. He's now half the player he was. How's that improved his long term prospects? He's bagged two years on a good deal and potentially ruined the next 5-7.
