Our senior props, when there's only two, should be doing 50-60 mins. Havard & Byrne, should be doing 20-30 mins. Bullock's stats aren't bad for a 15 min and 5 min spell. The younger lads are flogging it tackling everything going but haven't any gas left to make meters. Havard being last night's exception.
We just don't have any outside backs to make meters out of our own 1-30 mtr area. Bibby, Isa & Marshall aren't big enough to do that. I still go back to Gelling & Charnley who made over 100 mtrs a game and sometimes 200 or near enough!
Thornley and the London wingman maybe are being signed to rectify that problem. With French and Field out there it maybe their pace could be used to put us on the front foot.
We certainly need new props but I have a feeling that this season we're going to have to go with what we've got. Many players sign but don't want news getting out as they are already playing at a rival SL club.

One thing the club must consider is how do they stop these dreadful performances. Poor team selection, poor to non existent game plan, 53% goal kicking, lack of go forward throughout the team and squad.
Watching these young lads getting battered every week is not pleasant viewing.
Only one thing seems to be left.............

I pretty much can get on side with this post but I can’t agree with Thornley/Miski as being the answer; two championship standard players? Nah.

I may be being harsh on Miski. In better times with better prospects I’d back his signing to be honest - my own hypocrisy isn’t lost on me - but with the way we’re looking, the assumed lack of proper squad investment and lack of competent coaches it’s hard to get on board with his and Thornley’s signing.

You could do a lot worse than Chris Hill. Wire only offered him 12 month allegedly. Hull KR want him along with Watts, are the rumours.

He’s not been in form but I’d be tempted to offer a deal to Liam Watts.

An out of form Watts is still better than all of our current props put together.

I'm not sure on the signing tbh.

Undoubtedly he's been a good player, but he's massively out of form, will be 31 in a week or two and I just don't think that, the way the club is, we would get the best out of him. It seems like loads of risk and we could potentially end up with yet another dead wood prop - see Singleton, Clark, Clubb, Burgess, Pettybourne, FNP,

I do see your point and to be honest I have no come back to it other than the good old ifs and buts system. But if we could pick him up on a decent deal for us he’d be worth a punt. Other than Havard I’d still rate him above any of our props

I'm wouldn't be keen on us having to deal with all Watts' penalties when we already struggle to make hard yards.

Yeah, it was kinda the same with Burgess last year. We could all see he was done, but what if we could have got him back to fitness.

Can't help but think we massively missed out when we didn't get Mullhearn. He's not set the world alight, but he's better than what we have. You stick him next to Havard and another similar signing and all of a sudden the prop position isn't a massive issue. It wouldn't be as strong as others, but it's solid enough to let our other strengths (HB, 2nd row) be effective.

It doesn’t look like we’ve been in for Hill and even if we had been, it sounds like he’s gone elsewhere. It would’ve been an easy win that signing. An experienced prop, who eats up the ground and would help guide the youngsters. Im not sure what we want in a prop if we fancied Singleton and fancy Nathan Mason but not Chris Hill. I can only think it’s about finance.
