I think it was Hastings call on his second year?
I suspect the late confirmation led to signing Field which tied money up in a player we didn’t need and meant no new prop to replace Burgess
We’ve certainly got a squad that is unbalanced

He’s had about 7 years to sort out the pack. What he’s done elsewhere is of little consequence when we can’t get the best out of everyone else because of the decisions made about our front row.
