Tommy May play a reduced amount of games as a backup for Powell and the 2 half’s . Sensible decision if he’s on reasonable money plus we need as much leadership as we can get . I think we will be better next season .

Yes I think the backlash to this is a bit premature. If we use him sparingly Tommy could be an asset - currently I would prefer him to be on the books next year. Clearly Harry Smith is not ready yet - if it wasn't for injury I imagine he would only have been given a handful of starts. Out of those two Tommy is the better option atm - we just have to hope that they will both play a back up role to Field at 6 and a new signing at 7.

We’re talking about the club captain. If he continues to be part of the playing group, and retains captaincy i can’t see him being used sparingly.

I like Tommy. He’s been a loyal servant and a terrific player for this club across both spells. But there is no way he should be playing on or we should be offering him a deal for 2022. He offered nothing this season in a struggling team where his leadership should have been key. He was anonymous and him playing on, and us offering him a deal to play on, is ludicrous.

The state of the club at the minute is appalling. Little wonder then that fans are staying away in their droves.

I think I’d rather us sign Tommy for 1 year and try for a long term replacement next year (maybe Truman?) rather than sign someone like Miller on a 3 year deal.

Could Tommy be back up for Powell and still signing a half back ? fans forum said we had £73k left after signing a half back was Tommys wage calculated in that figure ?

Leulaui offering to play for another season is only showing how bad the financial situation at the club is where signings are concerned!

Didn't we say that about Hastings? Keep him for 1 more year and then we'll be able to get a top replacement long-term. :LIAR:

Plus Saints have resigned Roby at the same age with no backlash.
If we were doing well no one would blink at this decision and back the club.

There's a bit of a difference between Leuluai and Roby
