Lam will be judged on the GF and on next season if/when you come up. Let’s be honest here, you and me could’ve coached your squad to the position you’re in.

Leigh fans seem to be desperate to stick up for Lam with Wigan fans. He was a dreadful coach for Wigan and I mean dreadful but he’s a Wigan legend, so people don’t say that lightly. Maybe the fit was just wrong and he actually is a good coach and as you point out us missing Field and French didn’t help. We had strike though in other seasons via French, Hardaker, Marshall, Hastings etc and it still didn’t work and was dull.

One thing Leeds win showed is how utterly wrong IL & KR got it in regards to Lam's last year at the club. 18 months ago, plenty of us were begging for change but IL sat on his hands and watched the season go down the pan. Leeds brought a new man in and he'll have a running start for 2023. Imagine if Peet would have had the same.

Thought O'Neil would have been on the bench, he is a bit sharper at the ruck for me and could have been a point of difference, especially with Powell coming in cold.

That's on Peet but it's only a small criticism, it's more down to the players. Failing to execute with all that territory in the first half was fatal, and then Bateman made a difficult task impossible.

Nice to see you so active. Where have you been all season? Same for the Wire fans too.

Here's the answer to your question - I'll be upset, BUT if they with the same excitement, flair and commitment over the course of 2023 I'll be happy customer. I haven't enjoyed a season as much in years and that includes many a dull but successful seasons under Wane.

RL fans have been warped into thinking the playoffs and GF are all that matters. It completely devalues all the hours and money people put into the regular season. It's 99% of the rugby that we watch and I'd rather enjoy that (as I have) than just focus everything on 2 games at the end of the year.

I think first and foremost. Matty Peet is a real class act and an extremely good representative of our great club.

The humility he shows whilst being very magnanimous in all the defeats we have had this year are very refreshing.

I’ll be very honest and say that as a partisan fan of Wigan, during the game I can’t get utterly infuriated with ref’s call or lack of them in key games. It’s my job to feel hard done to in defeat ha.

But I’ll admit after watching or reading his post match comments, it generally makes me see things in a less biased light. which takes some doing sometimes as it bloody stings when we lose.

I understand the rational for keeping French out there in order to jab him at HT. We did lose and attacking option down the right but As we never conceded anything down that wing the gamble to half time paid off.

Should we have had a back on the bench? Possibly but history showed that Leeds battered us in the forwards in the previous game, so perhaps it was the right thing to do without the benefit of hindsight.

Powell in was probably a poor call though. A fully fit and match Hardened Powell might not offer the dynamism the O’Neil has done this this season (he’s been outstanding in my opinion, what a talent), however Powells defence normally is fantastic.

Last night however he was well off the pace and id Put him to blame for the O’Connor try plus a few more bad mistakes.

All in all though. We had enough firepower and players to do a number on Leeds in the first half. It was poor execution on the edges that was our demise.

Two big calls did not help us either. The offside against Marshall after he walloped Hardaker under the sticks was a shocker. And the no try was comical as you could see the downward pressure when his fingers bent back.

Anyway back on topic.

We are in great hands for the forseable with ALL the coaching team.

Regardless of last night. Regardless if French stays or goes, next year will be a good one too imo. Fingers crossed

Having your squad ripped to pieces as your over the quota. I think that isn’t likely. But I wish you luck. It’s always good to have two Wigan teams competing

Cheers WWste. Quota players leaving will be replaced with players just as good if not better, so there isn't an issue there really. First of all though, we need to get promoted. :thumb:

2yrs time you’ll be back as a championship club, assuming you win the final game of this season.
As someone else has said it would be nice to have two Wigan teams in super league

He got the bench wrong for me but I blame the players for not turning dominance in to points in that first 30 minutes. Leeds should’ve been put to bed but we look disjointed and lacking in ideas. Who knows why that was, maybe the break between proper games, the changes in personnel or Leeds desire to stick in there frustrating us but I can’t question the effort.

Overall it’s been a great season and I walk away from it satisfied. We need to find some proper centres but presuming we do, I see no reason why we can’t give the trophies a good crack next season.

Agreed,at the seasons start all I asked for was entertaining rugby I feel we got that, won a cup and got to within a game of the grand final, lots to build on though though I do feel Briers going will be a big loss.
