O/T Saints "fans" causing trouble : Fri Apr 07, 2023 11:25 pm
I did not go to the game today but from the sounds of it on the Redvee forum a number of there "fans" where not sitting in there seats that they where given and ended up causing lots of trouble at the game e.g fighting among eachover and throwing beer/being sick over eachover! thankfully the DW as a lot of cctv so they can get in touch with Saints and ban those fans from coming to the DW again! From the sounds of it it was a group of around 50 young fans around 18-20 that where causing the trouble :READING:

I was at the game in east stand and saw zero trouble anywhere pre or post match.

didnt see any 'trouble' but there was a group of kids (id say around 12/13 y/o) in the queue, presumably with their parents, singing a song about Morgan Smithies being a sex offender which i thought was a nice touch

The title just about sums it up sadly.
What I’ve witnessed today at that stadium is up there with the worst behaviour I’ve experienced at a rugby league ground.
As expected, our average age of 18 year old following gathered in their masses at the back with no consideration for anyone else. I witnessed children crying in fear from the aggressive, drunken, loutish behaviour. 3 to a seat in almost every seat on a row, someone projectile vomited over fans sitting in front, followed by others around defending this as ‘normal’ behaviour and telling those covered in sick to calm down, shut up and turn around, I kid you not.
Outright intimidation in numbers of fans who dared try and sit in their allocated seat near the back of the stand. The usual alcohol being thrown in the air. I watched someone throw a can of beer (no idea how they got it in) in anger when Wigan scored which hit a kid on the back of the head. Needless to say, said coward quickly blended in with the gang of morons.
Shocking behaviour and something that looks like it’s here to stay amongst our support. These aren’t one time saints game people (although some maybe). I saw them kicking off with stewards at Cas because they were setting off flares. Same idiots.
Fed up of seeing it, if this is what we have come to accept as a club then decent people are going to be completely put off going to the games.
Lastly, for any idiots reading this who were part of that embarrassing display at the back of the stand. Your idea to gather and create ‘atmosphere’ no matter who you disrupt fell on its booty as it was abysmal for a Good Friday game. I’m absolutely amazed people around kept their composure, those who did had children with them which may have saved a few.
I’ve took images of some of those involved and it will be forwarded to the club. It will make little difference I know. This is a club however, I have followed all over for more than 30 years and don’t like what I’m witnessing, more and more of.
Rant over.

Re: O/T Saints "fans" causing trouble : Sat Apr 08, 2023 9:36 am
When we arrived at the game, there was a large group of them coming down the other side of the canal from the direction of the town centre (and presumably Wigan Northwestern), chanting obscenities and baiting any Wigan fans there, but no one was taking them on. They were mainly 16-20 year olds with the usual scattering of older blokes who can't find mates of their own age. We got quite close to them, and the majority wouldn't have said boo to a goose on his own, but they were being loud because they felt brave in a large group. I didn't see any actual trouble from them, but on the way out after, there was a police car parked near the canal bridge, so it's not impossible that someone had finally got sick of them.

Did not see any trouble yesterday, went to the fanzone before the game and there was a small number of Saints fans mingling outside (Thatto Heath kids were playing a match on a section of the pitch).

After the game we headed into the town centre, plenty supporters mixed no issues whatsoever.

The only bit of potential aggro was when we decided to head home. A lad in his twenties, dressed in stone island made a beeline for my lad (had his Wigan top on), I immediately called him out and was ready for him. He skulked off angrily.... they really are soft as $hite when they are pulled up on their own (I wonder which football team he supported).

How bad is it that you can't walk through your own town centre on match day with out getting abuse from knuckle dragging neanderthals.

Pretty obvious who they supported. You only have to look at the cesspit that's Twitter to see the green eyed footy fans out.

Make no mistake about it, yesterday will have been absolutely gutting for the Latics lot.

Not only did they get beat yet again, but the town was absolutely awash with cherry and white shirts. I stayed in the fan village for a couple after the match, so only got into town later, but I've not seen Wigan as lively in a long time. Many pubs had to turn people away as they were at max capacity. I can imagine pubs and restaurants in the centre had a bumper day.

Roll on Good Friday 2025!
