I appreciate I’m going to get a panning for this but I just don’t see him as an International style second rower.

In SL he has been the best and most consistent secondrow of his generation in this comp.

His record speaks for itself.

As the old saying goes though styles make fights and I just don’t think his style translates well to the demands of the international
Game against the top teams.

His defensive effort was outstanding against Penrith, but as can be evidenced off that game he was playing against physically naturally more gifted players.

It’s exciting seeing these big athletic English secondrows coming through such as KPP, Nsemba, Walters etc. who can potentially bridge that gap. Give Farrell their natural genetics you have without doubt the best secondrow on the planet.

Some players in my opinion suit a certain comp. Farrell suits SL same could be said of Wellens and Rads great domestic players and players who rightly go down as club legends but maybe didn’t hit the heights in the International game because of certain limitations.

What Farrell has done and continues to achieve on the domestic stage is unbelievable, he’s a talisman for Wigan and deserves to be mentioned in the same conversations as the likes of Rads, Lockers and even Faz Sr for what they brought to this club and their longevity as consistency.

In my opinion though he doesn’t have the style to transfer his domestic success into an International successful style.

i think thats a fair assessment and if you think that a couple of international coaches havent picked him, may also explain why. When it comes to 2nd row i think with the exception of Bateman (who has been shifted to centre often) , they are generally of the ilk of the other players you described (Ellis, Whitehead, Faz, Scully, Peacock and Morley before moving to prop), so quite a bit more imposing than Farrell

I agree - Farrell's best assets are his fitness and his running lines in broken play. He's never run over the top of players - I assume the reason he backs into tackles so often is because he thinks he'll get pushed back. Maybe you don't get quite as much broken play at international level and there's more value placed on players who are bigger, more physical and more likely to rack up some post contact metres.

Have a watch of Frano Botica on Wigan tv Legends night. He was asked who had impressed him most whilst he had been at Wigan this week.

Regardless of what people think might happen, my original statement is still correct. Faz hasn't had a fair crack at the international scene.

He's had a handful of caps in meaningless games. There's no way anyone can say if he'd be a success or not.

What is undeniable, is that he's been consistently successful for well over a decade.

Who were the second rowers for Penrith on Saturday?
Totally non existent.
Big daft n zero brains. A typical Aussie forward. I’d exclude Yeo from that bunch.
I’d take Farrell in a heartbeat before either of them.
Penrith the world’s best ever team were bereft of any rugby on Saturday. I don’t give a flying shoite about early season rugby for the amount of possession they had they were pretty useless. I’d put Cleary at the top of list on Saturday for being pretty useless. Has never had a half decent game in the UK. Maybe he’s so arrogant he couldn’t be arsed or maybe he just isn’t that good. He’s never done it over here so maybe he’s the Aussie version of Farrell internationally.
There go

Nothing. None of the Aussie forwards were better than Farrell on the night.
