Why is it the best horse ever on the evidence of a years racing? I don't know much about racing but have a passing interest and don't understand why winning these particular races that the horse can only enter once make it the best ever. Is it the best at what it does or simply the best ever? Also will it stop racing after this year or continue because some horses continue til they are over 10 and Sea the Stars is only 3? Any clarification will be appreciated.
The horse has won six group 1 races this season beating anything that's put in front of him, he showed the class and turn of foot to win at a mile in the guineas, he then stepped up to a mile and a half and trotted up in the Derby, his next three victories in the Coral Eclipse, Juddmonte International and the Irish Champion stakes all came over 10 furlongs and all were very comfortable wins and then he went back to a mile and a half and won the Arc easing down after winning the race in a matter of strides.
So basically at the top level (group1) he's beaten all the horses of his own age (Derby, Guineas) and taken on and beaten older horses in the others. He's never looked coming close to being beaten to me and has looked equally impressive at those three different distances, he's encountered and won on all different types of going (gd/fm, gd, yld, sft/hvy) He travels so well in races and even the bumping and barging he encountered in the Arc didn't seem to bother him in the slightest, as soon as Kinane asked him to go he went and won his race as he always seems to do so well.
I personally would like to see him go to the Breeders Cuo but they reckon it is 50/50, either way he will go down as the best ever IMO.
The top class horses like this one seem to be retired to stud as 3 year olds nowadays, probably to preserve their value, no point in continuing with them as four year olds when they win everything like this one has done as a 3 year old, nothing more to prove really.
