Re: Football Chat Thread PART II : Sat Mar 16, 2013 3:04 pm
Everton totally deserved that win today. They were dominant and the game was changed by Pienaar being sent off. The referee put himself in an impossible position there. The second one was a booking, he let the studs drop on Garcia's shin pad. (His reaction to it was one of the most embarrassing things I've ever seen on a football field. Hart and Tevez should have a word with themselves as well, begging the referee to send a player off like that is ridiculous. I thought they had stamped all that out? Tevez was waving cards around all day.) But Pienaar's first booking? No physical contact with the City player at all, a joke of a decision. His inconsistency was ridiculous as well, Fellaini booked for a fine tackle on Milner, Milner let off with several very cynical challenges, including one identical to Fellaini's.

I can't understand City's 3 at the back formation. I suppose Mancini had to try something to finally get a win at Everton, but they showed nothing today. They would have been better having a go wide, get Clichy and Zabaleta forward almost as wingers, which would have stopped Baines and Coleman marauding forwards. Garcia, Barry, Milner in midfield as well is strange, about the worst midfield you can get in terms of creativity.

The linesman made two horrendous errors today. The offside against Mirallas spoiled a fantastic finish and secondly the penalty for handball. I was amazed when the ref didn't give the penalty, but to be fair to him, the linesman didn't give anything. I'd be interested to see which decision the ref gave. Free kick for a foul by Osman (Didn't touch him), handball by Osman (Didn't touch it) or the one by Fellaini. He seemed to point out Osman though.

Great to see Jelavic put it away at the end, hopefully that will spark a run of form to the end of the season.

Everton, you beauties! Seems somebody has put another corner in front of that corner that Liverpool turned last week  A Utd win and a Wales win by 8 points would round up a perfect sporting weekend. Oh, and 'Arry slipping 7 points from safety

No. Manchester City and Chelsea have given the title to United all the way up to this point with their sheety offerings.

Having said that, this United side is probably going to take the record for points in a PL season. That points to them being a very good side. Only dropping points in 5 games all season is pretty damn exceptional.

It'll be interesting to see if United can make this very good title win into something extra by taking the FA Cup too. Unless someone really screws up badly the FA Cup winner is definitely coming from Chelsea and the two Manc clubs. Chelsea and Citeh will want to win the FA Cup to make up for their poor league and CL offerings. United could win the FA Cup to give them strong claims of being the best Premier League side since the league was formed.

Aye, not bad for a poor side with no midfield, eh? Nothing will ever take away City's joy at that last minute title win, but f**k me It's funny watching them defend it.

It is a bit like Chelsea in the CL. Once they won it they realised they were batting way above their average and subsequently normality returns.

City and Chelsea are just wee teams with rich owners.

They've had it for a while. Everton's draw at the Etihad at the beginning of December was probably more decisive.

At least from a City perspective this should remove any temptation to paper over the cracks. Quite a few big earners are out of contract at the end of the season, a few underperformers eg Nasri and Dzeko will probably move on. Balotelli has already left. City certainly do not need major surgery but should be able to make a couple of quality signings and improve the standard and depth of the squad players without spending a net fortune. And hopefully Bergeristan will not make the mistakes of last summer (Nastasic aside).

I n always rated Nasri. Cannot understand what has happened at City. would be a good signing for united.

Re: Football Chat Thread PART II : Sun Mar 17, 2013 10:46 am
I told you all last year. we lost the league on goal difference having lost Vidic for 3/4 of the season. Great effort. City go as Kompany goes, when he's in the team they look amazing defensively and Joe Hart look's Schmeichelesque, when Kompany is out he look's more like Tony hart than Joe hart. All about Kompany.

In other news. Love the giddymeter from the bin dippas when they rinse a few sh*t teams. Clueless.

He just doesn't look interested, does he? Bizarre, really.
