Please tell me why the BBC cover what people (mainly women) are wearing. They have extended segments on hats. Why?
I would assume that the huge majority of the viewing audience are watching because of enjoying the racing. I follow racing and know there are some of the best flat races in the world and they are the reason for this festival occuring in the first place. The drift towards all this fashion garbage gets worse every year and the racing is forgotten about. Its a joke.
I can't stand Royal Fiascot, i've watched the races on ATR though.
I disagre, I think a good majority watch BBC for the coverage they have had this week and won't be disappointed. Royal Ascot is as famous for its fashions as it is for the racing this week, yes its the best flat meeting of the year, best horses, jockeys, trainers and races and this week has been no different but Ascot has and always will, like it or not, be as famous for the clothes worn this week as the racing. The Queen and the royals in attendance everyday, the royal procession. They have fashion shows galore and it one of the main focuses of the week. As you say if you don't like it put ATR. The BBC isn't a specialised racing channel so they appeal to more than just the racing fan and show the two things that make Royal Ascot what it is the royals and fashion.
Don't have a problem with it myself, BBC racing coverage I think is really good, been able to see 5 out of the six races live and they have plenty of coverage on each race.
