During Rafa's reign. you'd have backed him totally over the incident and not cared about whether he was professional or not.

Hodgson's not doing a good enough job and could be out of the door in a few weeks, but that spat is irrelevant.

It is just a stupid comment to make to go with his stupid press conferences. What he's trying to achieve I don't really know at the moment. When you hear him say things like that, which shows to me he's growing frustrated at journo's, yet he seems to be on cloud nine with our performances, it beggars belief as to what is up with him, particularly when you consider he's had most of the press lodged firmly up his crease for the past few years.

Me: I'm still reeling from the news that someone is considering watching the 1st and 3rd game on Saturday and NOT watching Warrington play. It's like being in Shea Stadium when the Beatles came to town and deciding to nip out for a fag.

knockersbumpMKII: Is it FOOK, you're good but you're not THAT good, jesus you wanky fans need to get over yourselves, Beatles at the Shea in '65 was a once in a lifetime opportunity for some (despite the following years performance), you can watch a very good team in primrose & yellow play every week if you really wanted to but comparing it to one of the very best music groups of all time in an iconic stadia such as the shea is overegging your importance, you're not even the best team in SL atm

Firstly, I very much doubt he is on 'cloud nine' with the performances. He probably thinks there is little to be acheived by going mental in public at them. Secondly, LGJM is absolutely right. Had that been Benitez, a certain section of Liverpool's support (i.e. most of it) would be creaming themselves over his genius sarcastic handling of the press.

FWIW, I agree, it was a stupid comment, if nothing else, he is simply following in the footsteps of the bloke who came before him.

People were saying Nani was a waste of money a year ago. It seems there has been a bit of a rift. if Rooney is unhappy and want's to leave then let him go. It would hurt to see him go City though, doubt we'd ever sell to them unless he did a Tevez.

I think they'll kiss and make up in a few weeks. I dont think that United could afford lose him so soon after Ronaldo & Tevez. It would remove, at least temporarily, some of the gloss from the club that made it possible for SAF to kick out players when they fell out with him, knowing that they could be replaced. And he couldnt be sure that the Glazers would let him spend all of the transfer fee.

Re: The Football Chat Thread : Tue Oct 19, 2010 9:12 am
Almost all of the players that Ferie has "kicked out" were the wrong side of late 20's (Tevez and Naldo aside) and had their best times at Nited. None of them leaving was ever the major deal that the press made out as their time had come at Nited and none have really gone on and shown us up....yet!!

However, we really can't afford to let Rooney go either now for a decent fee or next summer for nowt. However much Berbatov may be better without Rooney in the team, he's 30ish and will never be the heartbeat of the team as Rooney is and has been these past few years.

And as we all know there's no value in the market so we may as well not re-invest the money in the playing squad ;-)

He has made a complete @rse of himself by saying Sunday's performance was the best since he's been at Liverpool, apparently they didn't deserve to be 1-0 down at half time eventhough they'd created one chance, a Torres flicked header which Howard comfortably saved and apart from that nothing else. I'm certain the Arsenal performance was much better and surely the Sunderland one? He doesn't have to go mental but some of the stuff he has been chatting lately's made him look a complete tool.

Thing is, Dan, what he said could be seen as completely honest. Other than 15 mins in each half against Arsenal, we've been second best in every game we've played this season. So, as comical as Roy sounds, he's being honest, which is why he should go, because nothing he's brought in has worked, after 15 games or so - and things getting much worse - you have to look at whether things will get any better, because it seems Roy is getting happier with how we're playing, which is frightening.

Fair enough, that's plausible but extremely worrying. If that's the best no wonder it's only been one win and Blackpool came and won at Anfield. Whereas it's been so frustrating for us because, Newcastle game apart, we've dominated every game this season and should've won most. What wasn't true though was when he said you didn't deserve to be one down or that you limited us to an odd chance in the second half, that was just blinkered shite. Howard hardly had a save to make and any he did were routine anyway. More worrying for you is that he keeps talking about the transfer window and bringing in new players now the new owners are in place, who he'll bring in must be worrying.

As I said, I agree that it was a stupid comment. However to suggest, as was the case, that he was happy with what he is seeing is stretching it.

That's what he's saying though.

He doesn't have to lambast the players, but he doesn't have to pretend that all is well and starting to come together, because it's plain to see that it isn't.
