It is. It says it all; Everton played well and deserved the win, Liverpool are a shambles and allover the place on the field, but, I doubt the Americans will look and say 'we should have bought them', even Americans aren't that stupid.
But, anyway, just having a nosey on Twitter, to which I managed to find Patrick Barclay (The Times) reply to this Tweet:
'you and your cohorts really need to put a stop to this pro-Hodgson agenda, it is painfully transparent. We are not stupid.'
By saying:
'Oh yes you are'
Deary me, you do wonder how someone can call appointing Hodgson 'astute'.
 Some of those comments on the piece are priceless.

Everton are a small club that have the same fight on every season. Nothing more. Why would anyone bother pumping up something so limited?... guess that is why no one has.

The players are all poop, not Hodgson. "You lot are not as good as what you think you are." Stevie G is a flippin' incompetent moron who is intimidating his own players from making a pass / run. They all have to keep one eye on covering for his inadequacies. Maxi is Sunday league too.

Don't think anyone really thinks Everton would be a better buy than Liverpool. As for Hodgson, there were plenty on here and in the pubs crowing when he was announced. Some of you however have been dead against it from day one and with every limp effort of a performance you're being proved more and more correct.

To be fair, it's just a tongue a cheek blog isn't it. Had the derby been this time next week that blog would've been completely different. He's right with a lot of what he says, we fully deserved our victory and talking of Moyes and the board and we are run within our means, very true (although we've heard it countless times before) but the Americans thinking they've bought the club is just a tongue in cheek undertone to it.

His comments after today's game where barmy. It's not an astute appointment for Liverpool, for a number of clubs it would be but not yours. I can't see him shifting anytime soon either.
Barmy is being overly kind Dan. It's plain embarrassing when he comes out with a statement like that after such a performance.
Thing is, it doesn't even feel like a derby defeat because there is little for us to be bitter about. So often we'd be in games, have chances, have decisions go either way and we'd be arguing for weeks on end. Instead, it was a routine victory and a routine defeat, the bluenoses don't even need to gloat because Liverpool fans can see things so clearly, the game pretty much said it all.

Can't help feeling the players should shoulder some blame though. Hodgson deserved everything he got? Torres needs to pull his finger out and start showing why he's regarded as one of the best forwards in the world for starters.

Maybe Torres should, but it's hardly the world's biggest secret that Torres is a player who heavily relies upon teammates and support, is it? The only times Torres has ever truly shone for us are when Gerrard has been able to get a consistent partnership with him; that partnership hasn't been there since Alonso has been gone. Torres will continue to struggle until the team forms some kind of shape and tactic that works in his favour, at the moment, we're everywhere, and so is he, which makes raising his individual form even harder, as those around him are probably playing worse.
