We're still in a much better position than you. Premier League purchasers, FA Cup purchasers, bought a place in the Champions League last 16, still in the FA Cup, pretty much guaranteed a CL finish. And we still haven't murdered anyone.
Edited for accuracy. How any Chelsea fan could ever take any satisfaction or sense of achievement from the trophies they have purchased since 2003 is beyond me.

Every team that has won the Premier League has spent big, Chelsea just accelerated that process. Who's your team?

Newcastle. It's ridiculous though. I know what you're saying, but Chelsea really have taken it to a stupid level. At least when Man United were spending big on Cantona, Kanchelskis and Schmeichel they were also bringing through Giggs, Beckham, the Nevilles etc (okay this may be factually incorrect in terms of time, but you get the point). I just can't take Chelsea or Man City seriously, they've turned it into fantasy football and completely f****d up the Premiership for good IMO.

Your telling me that when Newcastle were jizzing money away chasing a title you were not taking any sort of enjoyment watching that team? Apart from being worried that the backer might lose interest I don't see why a fan would really care about the money being spent by their club.

Completely different IMO. Newcastle spent plenty of cash, but it was nothing like what Chelsea do, the only signing of 'astronomical' money really was Shearer, who considering he played for Newcastle for ten years is money well spent and great value. Also when Newcastle bought big with Les Ferdinand for example (£6 million IIRC) it was with £7million that they got for Andy Cole a few months earlier. Basically it's unfair to compare the two, Newcastle also had a team of mostly English players (Barton, Howey, Watson, Beresford, Beardsley, Lee, Ferdinand, Shearer etc). All I'm saying is if Chelsea do buy 1 or more trophies this season it is nothing at all for them to be proud of, found it hilarious them jumping around last May with the Premiership title as if they'd actually achieved something.

The money Newcastle were spending was a lot of money at the time, in fact your club continued to spend big until the Ashley era began. It's perfectly fair to compare the two. The money now is a larger as the money in the game has grown at a ridiculous rate.
They did achieve something, they won the league. They beat the other big spending teams to win the league. You sound a bit pathetic with this line of criticism IMO. Clubs are crying out for big financial backers to chase their dreams. Liverpool want Henry to spend big, City fans are loving their Arab consortium throwing it around and I'd wager Utd fans would be happy to see the Glazers go and a sugar daddy come in to allow them to compete with the other big clubs in the transfer market. To try to belittle their achievements purely because Abramovich has spent a fair wedge is daft. Big money doesn't necessarily lead to success, look at Liverpool. Rafa never quite delivered that elusive title.
If they win the title they have every right to celebrate. They will have achieved something very special. To be the best football team in the country.

Fair enough, it's only my opinion. What Liverpool achieved in the 70's and 80's was special, what Man U did in 93-94, 95-96, 98-99 etc was, Arsenal 97-98 etc etc, but what the likes of Chelsea and Man City do now means nothing IMO. It's not really a dig at them personally, I'm just saying that money has killed the Premiership and taken away the excitement and emotion that it used to have.

Didn't all those teams spend big in their respective eras? Pretty sure they did but I could be wrong.
I think that your opinion is a bit stupid to be honest mate. By your reckoning the only club that can be proud of anything is Arsenal. Spurs achievement of breaking into the top 4 is apparently worthless because they spent some money. Money talks and it's as simple as that. I'd dare say you wouldn't be saying these comments if Mike Ashley was jizzing money out for transfers left, right and centre.
