If only that actually mattered when it comes to winning trophies in the here and now, which is what most top class players care about.
I bet each of the three times Chelsea have lifted the PL title over the last six years their players and fans weren't satisfied, thinking to themselves "if only we were a big club, who'd won the title loads 20 years ago"
Tbf though Liverpool won their top flight titles as opposed to buying them....
You know it's true. Liverpool are a massive club around the world, Chelsea are a fairly big club in Britain. And I say that as someone who doesn't support either, so have no bias.

Bang on the head that. Don't know if Liverpool were big spenders or not when they were succesful but Keegan, Dalglish and Souness aren't exactly born Liverpudlians. I'd assume money was spent on acquiring them? Quite a bit before my time so I stand to be corrected on this.
Do Huddersfield Town fans bang on about their success in the 1920s and 30s?
There is a 'fact' going around, something like, over the past decade, we've won every trophy (FA Cup, League Cup, Champions League, Uefa cup) going other than the premier league. I know people like to think of us as some team of thirty years ago as we haven't 'dominated' the league like we did in the past, but we have still had a lot of success.

Chelsea are a huge club these days. They have support all over the world like all the biggest EPL teams. I don't get your fascination with history. I don't think Torres was thinking about what Liverpool did 20 years ago when he decided to join Chelsea.

good stat that, all in the first half of the last decade too. Channel 5 cup a possibility if the momentum continues this season.

Torres has left Liverpool for the same reason he joined Liverpool, because he felt he had a better chance for competing and winning major club honours by moving on, that fact seems to have escaped 99% of their fans who certainly weren't calling him when he moved to Anfield.
Because Liverpool have been established as a huge force in British football since the 60's / 70's for so many reasons, not just football but what they mean to the city e.g. culture. The trophy record is fantastic, they have supporters in countries around the world (something I doubt Chelsea have), and are firmly established as the second most famous British club after Man U. I just can't see Chelsea ever reaching the level of fame, support and therefore size that Liverpool have.
And Chelsea winning Premier League titles in recent years and still in the hunt for three FA Cups on the run, a Champions League regular for many years and a runner up not too long ago, count for nothing does it? History is just that, it's in the past. Chelsea, currently, are one of the top two teams in the country - that's present time. If you go to Stamford Bridge they have banners of fans from Cyprus, Middle East, Ireland, Russia there's many more I can't think of right now.

The past few years we've drifted to our lowest point during the decade, but we are still a huge club. I'm uncertain about finances at the moment, but if we act as competitively as we did in January, we'll be competing for top players just like everybody else, and I don't see any reason why young players with aspirations won't come here. There are rules being brought in that potentially work heavily in our favour, we have a huge fan base globally, the potential extension of Anfield or new stadium will also be massive. Things aren't so bad, but the damage Hicks and Gillett caused will set us back a couple of years, though.
